Problem Analysis - ASEAN & World Issues
The common problem of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is the riot, including
the kidnapping, public execution, killing the Shiite Muslims, stealing American-made
weapons, controlling oil resources, etc. ISISs goal is to establish an ultra-orthodox Islamic
theocracy, called a caliphate and occupy the entire Middle East. The Middle East is where
most of oil resources are in, so the world has to buy oil from them. Since the Middle East has
oil resources, if ISIS occupy them, it will richer and it may cause the larger problems.
There are two main causes of these problems. First, the religion conflict. Iraq
government is Shiite but the majority is Sunni. Even both of them are Muslims but some
believes are different Sunni and Shiite hate each other. ISIS is Sunni, so they kill the Shiite,
not just kill normally, they kill the Shiite Muslims severely. They also execute the Shiite
Muslims publicly. The second main cause is that they have conflicts with the United States.
Since the ISIS is in Iraq, the United States airstrike Iraq and tried to occupy Iraq. The ISIS
leader got angry at the United States, so they are hostile.
We cannot stop the ISIS immediately but we can do it a little by a little and do it as a
very large amount of countries. ISIS makes enormous money from the oil supply, we cannot
wait for the run out of oil supply and ISIS will have no money, its too long, they may have
another plan to gain money instead of selling the oil. So, the first solution is, we should ban
the oil supply from the ISIS, only buy oil directly from the OPEC (Organization of the
Petroleum Exporting Countries) So, ISIS will not be able to gain money from the oil supply.
ISIS makes up to $3 Million a day from selling oil. Money makes ISIS develop their group,
they use the money to buy many weapons, if they lack of money, they will lost their power.
The second solution is to look deeply into the ISIS, what is the thing they really want. Well
know that they want to establish an ultra-orthodox Islamic theocracy but they cant, because
Iraq government thinks they will do bad things. If Iraq government have a meeting with ISIS
leader with no religious thinking, the government should negotiate the ISIS leader not to
make the problems. The third solution is to kill the leader of ISIS, those countries which have
conflicts with ISIS should have a meeting and plan to assassinate Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi .
The forth solution is to persuade all the Shiite Muslims and the countries which the ISIS
threatened their citizen, to attack the ISIS.
The first solution can work but it will very slow and the ISIS may realize that they
have to find another ways to make money. Also, some country may not agree to ban the oil
from ISIS because its cheaper than buy from the OPEC. The second solution is quite
impossible because normally, the Shiite and Sunni hate each other, no one from Iraq
government wants to meet with the Sunni, especially the ISIS. For the third solution, the ISIS
may have the secret-vice leader and when we kill Baghdadi, he will come up and the war may
happen. For the last solution, there are large amount of Muslims in the world, if the Shiite

attack the ISIS which is Sunni, the Sunni around the world may revenge the Shiite and it can
cause a bigger problem. Maybe its the cause of World War 3.
