Agency Role: The Ferris State Alethic Office strives to provide student athletes with
the highest quality of emergency and preventative sports medicine. The Athletic Office
makes every effort to prevent injury to its athletes by utilizing education and encouraging
safe athletic techniques

Evidence Base
Utilized evidence base practice such as educating patients about RICE standing for
rest, ice, compress and elevate for sports injuries. (Van den Bekerom et al., 2012) We also
used the evidence available about rehydration techniques such as drinking plenty of
water and Powerade to provide electrolytes and improve athlete outcomes during hot
weather (Ruxton, 2012).
