2015 AGM
Thanks to all that turned up to OUR AGM. Below is a short list of 2014 achievements, the full minutes of
the meeting can be read on Ashfield/Ashfield East Website www.ashfield-ashfieldeast.com.

2014 Achievements

400 Prize Money - 2nd Prize in large estate category of KKCoCo Tidiest Estate Competition - This was
our first year partaking in this competition. Thanks to Graham Bourne for notifying the committee of
the competition.
750 Amenity Grant - This money for used for granite kerbing and plants at front entrance.
Clothing Collection - 223.85 received collectively from Clothing Collections. Massive thanks to
everyone that supported this collection.
An Taisce National Spring Clean - Last year we had two official estate clean ups.
Kilkenny County Council (KKCoCo)
1. Ashfield & Ashfield East Estate is now in the charge of KKCoCo While KKCoCo cannot
financially assist us, we, as an estate shall benefit in numerous other ways.
2. Tree Giveaway - 20 Trees were received and planted. Two trees were planted to replace the
two mature trees that had died. Massive thanks to everyone who assisted with the planting,
especially Damien Brennan for his assistance and the complimentary use of his digger.
3. Planted replacement hedging between gaps of Ashfield East & Pococke Estate We hope this
will prevent cars from driving over the green between the estates.
4. Street Identification Signage - Mr. Kieran Fitzgerald, Senior Engineer on invitation from the
Committee visited the estate and concluded that the area would benefit from identification
signage. It was agreed that KKCoCo would investigate design and layout of proposal and
discuss with committee.
5. Traffic Surveys in relation to request for Speed Ramps - 7 day 24 hour traffic surveys were
carried out twice by KKCoCo.

Mean Average Speed 27.3km/hr
85% of traffic travelled at 36km/hr or less
Ashfield East
:
Mean Average Speed 27.3km/hr
85% of traffic travelled at 33.8km/hr or less
The results are lower than the results obtained in other residential areas in the City. Mr Kieran
Fitzgerald, Senior Engineer mentioned that he had recommended to the Elected Members of
Kilkenny Municipal District that funds be allocated towards Traffic Calming Measurers in
residential areas in 2015. He mentioned that the Ashfield Area would be considered in light of
the funds provided.

Road Sweeper Swept estate during the year

Maintenance & Community Text Fee - 118 out of 217 Houses paid the 30 Maintenance Fee. This
amounted to 3530. The Committee sincerely thanked everyone that contributed.

Maintenance/Community Text Contribution


The maintenance/community text alert fee is staying at 30 per house for 2015. For those that are not
aware we get no assistance from any other organisation. Therefore this contribution goes towards
community texts, grass cutting, hedge cutting, weeds, signage, planting, and overall maintenance of our
estate. Only residents that pay the maintenance/community text contribution receive text alerts. Choice
of payment options are as follows;
1. Cash payment: Text 087 7074671 for committee house number to drop too.
2. Cheque payment payable to: Ashfield & Ashfield East Residents Association".
Direct payment to Ashfield/Ashfields East Bank Account: Lodge cash into AIB bank account, using lodgement slip you need sort
code & bank account number for this. * Please put YOUR House No and Ashfield or Ashfield East in Narrative section of the
lodgement slip so that the house address that has paid in the money will come up on our estates statement, this is needed for our for
records
3. The setting up of a yearly standing order:
*If you have an AIB Bank Ac the set up of a standing order online is free.
*If you have an AIB Bank Ac but set up the standing order manually in the bank, the set up charge is 4.50 euro and 30cent per
transaction.
*If not an AIB customer your own banks charges in setting up a standing order, will apply. You will need Estates IBAN and BIC code to
set up. Text 087 7074671 for this information.
* Please put NUMBER of YOUR house and if Ashfield/Ashfield East that paying for into Receiver Reference section of standing order
form, so it shows on estates bank statement.

Please note that it is in EVERYONES interests that OUR estate is maintained to its very best. The only way this can be done is
if EVERY HOUSE pays their share of the maintenance contribution. If you are renting and feel that it is not your place to pay,
please pass this information onto your landlord, or text the estates mobile (087 7074671) with your house number and your
landlords name and contact number. A committee member will then contact the landlord.

We would like to thank those that have already paid the 2015 fee. We would like to stress that deadline
for payment is Thursday the 30th April 2015.

Estate Clean Up & Clothes Collection

.....Estate Clean Up in conjunction with National Spring Cleaning Month


..Clothing, materials, unwanted clothes, shoes
The next estate clean up will take place on Wednesday the 30th April from 6.30pm onwards. There is 217
houses in OUR estate if even half that number came out to clean we would have the whole Estate
cleaned in under the hour. A CLEAN ESTATE IS IN ALL OUR INTERESTS! This is a worthwhile activity that
helps everyone and can be done individually or as a family.
Monies raised from the Clothing Collection goes towards the up-keep of Ashfield & Ashfield East estate.
