Hello My name is Alison and I am representing the country Morocco

Morocco, officially called the Kingdom of Morocco is a north African country

bordering the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea between Algeria and
Western Sahara. My country is a constitutional monarchy with an elected
parliament. The King of Morocco holds vast executive and legislative powers,
including the power to dissolve parliament. This country has a total area of 458,730
sq km. Morocco's geography, features the bone dry fringes of the Sahara Desert,
the coast facing the mediterranean and atlantic, and snow covered peaks. The Atlas
mountain range divides the country into its climate zones. The overall climate in
Morocco is reliably dry, although small amounts of rain does fall between November
and March. The Kingdom of Morocco has a total population of about 32.4 million
people. About 58% of the total population lives in major cities. Although there are
several people of different racial groups living in Morocco today, the Arab and
Berbers make up about 99% of the total population, resulting in Islam being the
dominant religion. The Kingdom of Morocco has a literacy rate of 56.1% which is low
compared to a majority of African countries. Although it has a GDP per capita
income better than most other African countries, more than 15% of the population
is living below the poverty line with the majority of this group living on less than a
dollar a day. Just like its neighboring countries, the Kingdom of Morocco has an
abundance of natural resources including phosphates. Our largest industry is mining
phosphorus. Despite the abundance of resources, Morocco like most other north
African countries today faces many challenges including poor education, and health
issues.
Financial Support from the UN would be used to make changes in this country.
Spending money on education would be the number one priority. Only half of all
Moroccans are educated, in today's world this number is very low. Even though
illiteracy in Morocco declines by approximately 1% each year, it will take 50 years
for Morocco to become a literate country. Education is key to Moroccos
development because of the connections between poverty, schooling and economic
opportunity. Building an effective education system is crucial to the development of
this country. A higher rate of education can lead to a decrease of poverty. Studies
show that an uneducated child living in poverty has disadvantages later in life, more
so than an educated child. The right education could bring people out of poverty.
Illiteracy also deprives the country from direct foreign investment. It is more difficult
to qualify and be considered for money to built plants and manufacturing facilities
with a low education and literacy rate. Therefore, a fund for education can help the
development of Morocco because it could expand the opportunities in phosphate
mining, which is Moroccos greatest resource and revenue.
