Provide a brief description of the teacher assistants performance related to the InTASC Standards as you observed while he/she
was working in your classroom. The format should include the setting in which the student performed his/her assisting, including
school, area, grade, diversity, etc. The standards to consider in writing the summary are; Learner Development; Content
Knowledge; Application of Content; Assessment; Planning for Instruction; and Instructional Strategies.

I have really enjoyed have Mr. Joshua Greene as a Teacher Assistant in my 7th and 8th grade mathematics
classroom at West Michigan Academy of Arts and Academics this winter. WMAAA is a public charter
school in the Spring Lake area. The make-up of WMAAA is middle class suburban, without a great deal of
diversity. In this placement, Josh had the opportunity to observe and teach in two different classes. One
class was an on-grade level 7th grade class and the other class was a Pre-Algebra class, which was made
up of advanced 7th graders and advanced 6th graders.
Mr. Greene took the time to get to know my students individually and gave a bit of himself to them as well.
Although many of the lessons he taught were to be taught to both classes, he would adapt the lessons to
meet the needs of each group. The two classes are quite different and Josh did a wonderful job adjusting
his teaching to each of the groups of learners.
Josh is confident and capable in his math abilities. He understands why things work the way they do and
was able to explain that to the students. Mr. Greene would collaborate with his fellow teacher assistant and
together they would create interesting and engaging lessons for my students. Josh was interested in
technology and willing to research and try new things. He introduced the students to a new program, called
Beta Socrative, which they really enjoyed and it helped them to review for a test.
Mr. Greene jumped right in and starting preparing for his unit well before it was time to teach it. He started
off with the materials and curriculum that were provided to him and then adapted them to make them his
own. He was mindful of his students learning and asked questions along the way to assess where they
were at. One class was particularly quiet and he used a variety of strategies to get everyone engaged and
checked in regularly on their learning. Josh personally graded every assignment that his students did, so
that he could give them feedback and meet with them to discuss challenges when needed.
Mr. Joshua Greene was a great addition to our team and put his all into every minute he was here. He has
definitely gone above and beyond the typical Teacher Assisting responsibilities. Josh is a hard worker and
will put forth the same effort in his student teaching experience and in his own classroom. I am excited to
see his skills continue to grow.
Would you recommend this candidate for student teaching?
