TWS 4 Assessment Plan

A. Provide an overview of the assessment plan
Example of Mini-Unit Assessment Overview
Mini-Unit
Objective(s)

Pre-Assessment

The students will be

able to identify and
important events of
the American
Revolution in South
Carolina.

The preassessment will

be used to
determine what
the students
already know
about key terms
from the unit.
Each
assessment has
10 questions.
The questions
are all fill-in-theblank with a
word bank.
Students who
complete the
pre-assessment
with 80% or
above are at
standard, score
with 100%
accuracy are
exceeding
standard, and
score 80% or
below are
approaching the
standard.

Accommodation
s/
Modifications
Based on the
results, if I find
that several
students missed
similar
questions, I will
plan to
explicitly focus
on those areas
of the content
in which
students need
more
instruction. If
only a few
students missed
a certain
question or
concept, I will
pull them to the
back of the
room in a small
group to discuss
the content
further and give
them one-onone attention to
help them
become
successful.

Lessons

PostAssessment

Lesson 1
Students will
learn the terms
constitution,
federal, and Bill
of Rights. They
will be able to
use those terms
when discussing
events of the
American
Revolution in
South Carolina.
They will also
learn important
dates from this
time period.
Lesson 2
The students
will learn the
terms for the
three branches
of government:
judicial branch,
executive
branch, and
legislate
branch. They
will also learn
the terms State
House, and
cotton gin.
Lesson 3
The students
will have a
review of the
entire chapter
to prepare them
for a test.

The postassessment will

be the same as
the preassessment. I
will look at the
students'
individual
grades from
both the preassessment and
postassessment to
determine if
they improved
after the three
lessons were
taught.

C. Discuss your plan for determining student progress during

each of the three lessons.
a. In order to check students' progress during the three lessons, I
will listen to students' feedback during discussions. I will pull
small groups of students together to reteach any information
that they might be confused about.
Lesson 1: I am looking to see if students display an
understanding of the terms constitution, federal, and Bill of
Rights. I am also looking for an understanding of important
dates.
Lesson 2: I am looking to see if students understand the
terms for the three branches of government: judicial branch,
executive branch, and legislative branch. I am also looking to
see if they understand what the State House and cotton gin
are.
Lesson 3: This lesson is a review of the entire chapter. I am
looking to see what I may need to go over with them further.
