Montreal, 22March2015
To whom it may concern:

I would like to take this opportunity to endorse the candidacy of Ms. Alexandra Santamaria for
employment as a Secondary School Teacher within the Lester B. Pearson School Board. Ms.
Santamaria is potentially graduating from McGill University in May 2015 from the Department of
Education - B. Ed. Secondary Social Studies program.
For the past five weeks, Ms. Santamaria has been working with me as a Student Teacher at Pierrefonds
Comprehensive High School, teaching Secondary 3 History and Secondary 5 Contemporary World.
My relationship as her Cooperating Teacher has afforded me the chance to directly supervise all
planning, implementation, and professional reflection regarding the curriculum of these two courses.

In the short time that we have worked together, Ms. Santamaria has demonstrated a strong ability to
orgarize and plan learning and evaluation activities for our sfudents. She has come prepared to every
lesson with a clear purpose and all the necessary resources required to teach the lesson. In terms of
implementation, Ms. Santamaria is capable of delivering the lesson with consideration for the needs of
her students: answering questions, approaching topics from different points of view, and taking care to
ensure understanding before moving on, are examples of good pedagogical approaches ernployed by
Ms. Santamaria while interacting with her students. Following eachday, Ms. Santamaria is eager to
share her thoughts about how the lesson turned out and what obstacles or difficulties were
encountered. I value this approach as it demonstrates a strong sense of self-reflection and constructive
feedback. She understands that teaching and learning is not a one-way street.
Ms. Santamaria has never been absent or late to her assignments. Her attire is neat, tidy and
professional and her daily interactions with colleagues and students calry an equal level of respect and
professionalism needed in this career.

I am confident that Ms. Santamaria will make a valuable addition to your faculty. It is without doubt
that she will strive to provide quality education to our students and will grow as an individual, both
professionally and personally. Should you require further information, please contact me at once.
Sincerely,

oLtsL
