All children in grades kindergarten through sixth will receive at least one library period per
6-day cycle to be taught 21st century information skills and literature appreciation. Stu-
dents may checkout books for a period of at least six days. The library collection is se-
lected for informational and pleasure reading.
Approximately 60 percent of the library collection is lexiled thus
enabling the classroom teacher to search the electronic library cata-
log and select the appropriate reading level books for your child
(often referred to as guided reading). The Lexile Framework is an
educational tool that links text and readers under a common metric
known as lexile
The library is fully automated, offering searching on its electronic
card catalog and access to the Internet for study-related material.
Bethel is an ACCESS PA library and participates in the state-wide inter- Ms. Caffarelli
library loan program as a requestor and a responder
