Three to Four 45 minute periods

Lesson Overview

The teacher assigns kids in groups of three and then

randomly selects different cultures and assigns one to
each group. That way everyone learns about a new
culture and no group gets the same one. The teacher
then tells the students that they will creating a short
video on their culture and presenting it. The students
can use pictures, texts, voices, music, themselves, etc.
for the short video. This lesson will just help introduce
video making to the students.
In their video every student has to mention how the art
differs in their culture. Thats one of the main points of
this lesson is to learn how art differs in cultures or if it is
the same. The students are trying to use the video
program to create a short video on different cultures so
they can share what theyve learned with the rest of the
class.
In the groups every kid will do research and plan what
information they will use for their video. The students
can decide what they want to research. One student can
look up pictures while the other looks up art and history.
Another student could start by creating the video,
editing it and creating the story board.
