Immigration
Immigration, it is my ancestry, my bloodline, my past, present, my future. Its filled with
immigrants from different races and cultures that I can't count that high, its what forms who I
am.

Even though I was born here I had the chance to experience, what every immigrant goes
through, including the suffering, the mindset of am I going to die out here or am I close to
making it. Its hard to put someone who is just starting and compare that experience to someone
who has been on this long journey for many days and nights following many others including
mothers, soon to be mothers, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and also fathers. On my
journey many were injured and I had to help those in need making promised to help them make it
to their destination, to their families.
I placed my life on the line for others, whether if it was a matter of life or death it didnt
matter to me, even if I had to carry children, the elderly or mothers who were expecting, I did the
impossible. I had to jump three boarders and it was my first experience, I also had to make false
promises which I tried to keep. There were certain moments that I thought to myself what was I
doing, that I had to give up, I needed to stop, that I was going to die, but I cleared my head and
followed through without food, or water.

The definition of an immigrant is a person from a different country or race who migrates

Garcia 2
to another country, usually for a permanent residence. To look for a better future, or to provide
money to send money back to their family, or to join family members who are already living
inside the U.S. there are several meanings to the word immigration, but there is no specific
definition to define the experience of being an immigrant, instead there are many examples
such as a refugee.

Refugees are forced to leave their home countries because of war, environmental
disasters, political persecution, and religious/ethnic intolerance; to whom are provided with a
visa, which gives them direct admission to enter the country. Meanwhile immigrants cross the
border illegally by crossing through the desert, through the Rio Grande, as well by train, or even
by boat.

In order to distinguish legal and illegal immigration, first you must see the differences of
both. To obtain legal immigration into the U.S. you can apply for a green card which gives the
person authorization to live and to work in the United states on a permanent basis as a resident.
Illegal Immigration is crossing without papers or a visa which these immigrant take the choice of
doing so.

The journey of the immigrant is a struggle filled with blood, sweat, and tears. It can be
compared to the trail of tears; it can take you to your destination or it can be a nonstop journey to
your death. Throughout the history of the United States, most Americans think of immigrating to
the U.S is a bad thing; but they don't quite remember that their ancestors were once immigrants
before them, came aboard a ship, to find a new world, new home to escape the government that
treated them with injustice, low pay, and religious persecution.

Garcia 3
As refugees they fled, but as Illegal immigrants they arrived on new land which they
didn't know it was inhabited by natives which roamed the land for many years and made it their
home. Many Immigrants get the Idea of the American dream, as someone who is sitting on a hot
summers day drinking lemonade, driving luxurious vehicles, wearing expensive clothing. There
are several Ideals that appear in the minds of most immigrants, but the American dream is about
the struggle to work hard its not about luxury its about leaving a legacy for your family it's
what they come for, to provide a better future for their own. These Immigrants are the American
Dream

But what does it truly mean to be an Immigrant, what does it mean to leave your family
behind, to provide them with money and a better future. There are several meanings as to what it
feels like to be one; it takes an immigrant to be an immigrant: take it by experience. Take the
Journey, feel what they feel, see what they see, but just dont say that your life is hard compared
to my fellow immigrants who die, disappear, or lose faith. This journey couldve been my end, I
would not be here explaining this to all of my fellow classmates If I had given up out in the
desert.

In 2013, approximately 41.3 million immigrants lived in the United States, an all-time
high for a nation historically built on immigration.20 percent of the world's international
migrants, even as it represents less than 5 percent of the global population. Immigrants accounted
for 13 percent of the total 316 million U.S. residents; adding the U.S.-born children of
immigrants means that approximately 80 million people

Point 1: Guilty until proven citizen

Section 214(b) of the INA Everyone is a potential immigrant until proven the contrary.
It states that everyone including naturalized U.S citizens have to provide evidence of their
citizenship. many of whom that are citizens within the states end deported to another country
who are not familiarized with.

An example of this is a film directed by the comedian cheech marin, which displays
cheech marin, who plays Rudy an American of latino descent who ends up getting caught up in
an Immigration Raid of a factory. who is then deported to Tijuana, Mexico as an undocumented
immigrant, and having no way of proving the fact that hes an American Citizen. who is then
forced to cross back illegally.

Everyone is an Immigrant until proven the contrary. As the term Everyone Including
immigrants and nonimmigrants and U.S. Citizens have to prove citizenship.

Since 1952, the INA has been the foremost body of law regulating immigration and
citizenship in the United States. The INA defines the terms immigrant and
nonimmigrant, describes the types of U.S. visas and the processes through which noncitizens
can apply for them, provides processes through which nonimmigrants can adjust their status to
officially become immigrants and LPRs,and details the process through which LPRs can become
U.S. citizens. At the same time, the INA grants the Attorney General the power to rescind or
cancel a granted petition for immigrant status,to detain noncitizens, and to remove or, in common
parlance, deportcertain noncitizens.

Argument for Legalization

Adam Hosein talks about a way to defend legalization and its to argue for open borders
in general. And continues to speak about the view that people should be allowed to move freely
across political borders and settle where they wish. If states are required to have open borders,
then it follows that they should allow unauthorized migrants to stay, since everyone must be
allowed to reside wherever they please.is legalization required, even if states are not generally

Garcia 7
required to admit migrants, including migrants with a substantial interest in entering?

Providing a positive aspect with the issue and legalization in his argument to a
controversial point, which has been for centuries.

Immigration restrictions trap many millions in Third World misery. Economists'

consensus estimate is that open borders would roughly double world GDP, enough to virtually
eliminate global poverty (Clemens 2011)

Bryan Copland provides point which counters Adam Hoseins argument on open borders,
In which he states to determine whether any of the effects of immigration are bad enough to
credibly overcome the moral presumption in favor of open borders.

In order to justifiably restrict migration, you need to overcome the moral presumption
in favor of open borders (Huemer 2010).

and proceeds to speak about research that has been conducted by in which he states
George Borjas has found out that between 1980 and 2000, Mexican immigration reduced overall

native wages by 3.4 percent in the short mn, and 0 percent in the long mn. These are not annual
effects; they are the total effect of two decades of immigration. Drop-outs suffered more, but the
effect is surprisingly mud: 8.2 percent in the short run, 4.8 percent in the long run.
