Algebra 2

2015 Semester 2
Instructor:
Ms. Blumline
elizabeth.blumline@eds.misd.net
Supplies Needed (in class everyday!):
Algebra 2 book
Pencils
Either a binder with paper, or a folder and a notebook
Graphing calculator (Please bring your own if you have one; there will be a
classroom set for your use)
Attendance:
Regular attendance and arriving to class on time each and every day is expected in
the workforce and therefore is expected in class. Each class period will begin with
Bell Work. If a student is late (without a pass), they will not be given extra time to
complete the Bell Work.
Classroom Behavior:
All students are expected to behave in a respectful manner that is conducive to a
positive learning environment. Also, students are expected to follow the policies set
forth by the administration (see the agenda). Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will
not be tolerated and will result in a referral to an administrator and phone calls
home.
Assignments:
Assignments will be given on most days. There typically is time in class to start
assignments. Students must work on the assignment during the class time provided.
Not doing so will result in a reduction of points. If the assignment is not completed
during the class time provided, it will need to be completed outside of the classroom.
Assignments are due at the beginning of the class period on the next day (unless
you are told otherwise).
Full credit will be assigned to assignments if and only if ALL problems are completed
or attempted (a good attempt). There may be challenging problems assigned. We
grow as students by attempting those problems.
All missing/late work is due the day of the next test or quiz. Late/missing work prior
to the assessment will not be accepted after the assessment date.
Assessments:
Expect a quiz or test weekly. You will typically be given two or three days notice. It is
your responsibility to prepare for assessments. Review time will occur for most tests
but not for quizzes.
Students are able to make up tests or quizzes due to an absence. Students are
expected to make-up an assessment on the day of their return. Please make the
necessary arrangements. Students are expected to stay after school and complete
missed tests during correctives.
Math Correctives sessions are run by a math department teacher on
Mondays through Thursdays from 2:50 to 3:50 pm.

Food, Candy, Drinks, etc:

There is no food, candy, or drinks (other than water in an appropriate bottle) allowed
in the classroom. Such items should be kept in your locker.
Restroom Policy:
Please use the restroom during class changes. Bathroom passes will be given for
emergencies only; maximum 1 per student per week. Please be courteous to the
learning of your classmates and do not interrupt a lesson.
Extra Help:
Students are welcomed and encouraged to seek extra help as necessary. If a student
is having trouble with a topic, it is imperative that they come for help immediately.
Topics in math build on one another. Do not let yourself get behind. You have the
following options for help:
Come to me after school. I have correctives on Tuesdays, and am usually
available most other days as well.
Send me an email and I will help you. I check my e-mail often.
Correctives with other teachers
Internet. The internet has a wealth of information. Many times, if a topic is
put into a search engine, a tutorial can be viewed.
Grading:
Assignments- 30%
Homework, in-class work, bell work/problem of the day, journals
Assessments- 70%
Tests, quizzes, projects
