Shed Construction Lead Carpenter

This position is responsible for the oversight and construction of two moveable sheds to be used
for storing hazardous waste.
The incumbent performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures,
and receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.

Salary Status: Non Exempt from Overtime

Salary Range: $25.00 per hour

Schedule: Full Time, Temporary, 2 Weeks

Responsibilities/Duties
Construct two sheds that adhere to federal, state and local building codes.
Construct sheds to NVE directed specifications.
Use power tools, saws, etc. to compete project.
Supervise shed construction laborer.
Ensure project is completed on time.
Other duties as assigned.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Knowledge of safe heavy lifting mechanics. Ability to maintain hard physical labor for long
hours. Knowledge of safe operation of power tools. Knowledge of carpentry and construction.
Ability to supervise a construction crew. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans.
Experience Requirement
Construction and power tool experience required. Experience as a foreman or construction
project manager preferred.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent, current Alaska Drivers license.
Performance Standard
Regularly move, jump, pull self up, push heavy objects to complete work. Must be able to move
quickly, to avoid possible moving objects. Must be able to see, judge distance, have good
hand/eye coordination and be able to assess dangers of the worksite. Typically lifts 15lbs
repeatedly for long hours.

Environmental Factors
Work will be completed outdoors. This position will be exposed to wet, cold and hot weather
with mosquitoes and other biting flies. This position works around moving construction
materials, saw blades and power tools.
