One of the fundamental problems [attributes] modern
Republicans have need more of is their irrational hatred
[historically justified mistrust] for the federal government. Traditionally, conservatives have been skeptical about the governments ability to solve peoples problems but never opposed to its existence. Fast forward to the 21st century, and conservatism has morphed into a radical [is as it always has been:] an anti state [statist], pro corporate [individual liberty] ideology that operates on the basis that government is always wrong, no matter the situation [when it meddles in things in which it has no business]. That is until [always true, especially when] the federal government is needed. The sight of Texas Senator Ted Cruz, one of the most radical [effective] anti state [statist] conservatives, begging [properly requisitioning] the federal government for assistance after his state was subjected to severe flooding, was truly pathetic [appropriate]. Said Cruz: There are a series of federal statutory thresholds that have to be satisfied. Initially, it appears those thresholds are likely to be satisfied by the magnitude of the damage were seeing, Democrats and Republicans in the congressional delegation will stand as one in support of the federal government meeting its statutory obligations to provide the relief to help the Texans who are hurting.
Cruzs mind blowing hypocrisy [absolutely reasonable and
customary request] was made all the more obscene [completely irrelevant to] when you take into account [the fact] that this was the same Tea Party Senator who voted against federal aid for victims of Hurricane Sandy [$60 Billion of government pork masquerading as a federal aid bill for victims of Hurricane Sandy], because he deemed much of the spending to be wasteful. The lesson is clear screw [help] the rest of the country when they need help [and dont use a tragedy to try to score a $40B slush fund to bail out your buddies at the NFIP, see http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2013/01/hurricane -sandy-relief-bill-and-bloated-deficit-spending ], but rescue Texas. And to be sure, Texas needs rescuing a lot, being the number one recipient of federal disaster relief aid [according to one completely discredited analysis by another left-wing propaganda site, americanprogress.org, click the link and see for yourself]. Dont expect any of these inconvenient facts to trouble Cruz and the radical anti [federal] government [excess] loons patriots in Texas hypocrisy is now [has always been] an inbuilt facet of Republican [Democrat] ideology, so much so that no one pays it much attention any more [that unfortunately far too many people are ignorant of]. Just as Mitt Romney was able to campaign on an anti Obamacare platform in 2012 despite rolling out the exact same [a completely different] program in Massachusetts [which Democrats misrepresented as being the same,
counting on the fact that their moronic constituents
wouldnt be able to tell the difference between a repealable experiment at the state level, and a permanent federal entitlement], Republicans [Democrats] couldnt give a damn what the public thinks. As long as they are hurling enough mud at Democrats [Republicans]for being socialists [anti-government] no one seems to notice their constant raids on public money. One of the most hilarious examples of this was Newt Gingrich, another radical anti-state corporatist who spent his entire career attacking federal subsidies while making his district in Cobb County, GA one of the biggest recipients of federal subsidies than virtually every other suburban county in the country. Amazingly, politicians like Cruz and Gingrich go about their business like anti gay pastors secretly sleeping with male escorts. [Some paragraphs are just such an irrelevant, steaming pile of BS they cant be edited into anything resembling a cogent argument on the topic. They can only be stricken completely] Cruz is technically right, the federal government does have statutory obligations to provide relief to Texans regardless of their rampant opposition to federal aid [abuse]. So as usual, free loading Texas [as the second biggest State payer into the federal income tax system] gets to have its cake and eat it [what it should have in a reasonable society without any grousing from people trying to score cheap political points].
