Brainstorming/
Sketching
When I first started the project, I had to think about which
category I was going to participate in. Then I chose the
logo competition because of how I saw it being used in
other places. Then I brainstormed what logo I wanted to
create that related to Pennsylvania. My ideas were as
follows:
Pennsylvania Computer
Features of itKeyboard, mouse, monitor, and screen
Which symbols will I use from PennsylvaniaKeystone, PA border, and PA colors( blue and yellow)
Pennsylvania Tablet
Features of it
Apps in shape of a keystone
In the end, my decision was to make the Pennsylvania
Computer. Then I made a sketch of what the computer was
going to look like.

First Vector
Painting
My first vector painting was done on my IPad Mini. I used
an app called Inkpad, which was a open-source vector
illustration app. To make the Pennsylvania border, I used
Doodle Buddy, which is similar to finger painting. Based
on my sketch, I made my first draft. I made a keyboard
with the PA Computer Fair on it. In addition, I made a
keystone mouse. Then I made the PA monitor in the
shape of Pennsylvania. Finally, in the screen I included
three keystones. My first draft had some major flaws in it,
but my later drafts solved my issues. For example, I had
three different colors: yellow, blue, and violet. To meet
the criteria, I needed two. In addition, my keyboard
wasnt clean and it was very hard to see. Even though it
was my first draft, I had a long way ahead of me.

Creating the
Keyboard
After my sponsor lookedover my first vector draft, one
thing she pointed out was that the keyboard needed to be
clean. It was really hard to read the words on the keys
and it didnt look complete. Therefore, I made a whole new
keyboard using Google Drawings. I first made the outline
for the keyboard and painted it blue. Then I made a small
box which represented a key and painted It yellow. After
that, I duplicated the yellow key to make the keyboard. In
the end, I added a space bar to the bottom of the
keyboard. When I was done, I pasted the keyboard onto
Photoshop and started making my second vector painting.

My Second Vector
Painting
After my sponsor told me the corrections I needed
to make, I started all over to start a new draft. The
only difference was that I was using Photoshop
instead of Inkpad. So I took my new keyboard from
Google drawings and pasted it onto the new logo.
From there, I started putting the PA Middle
School Computer Fair letters onto the keys of
the keyboard. Then, I had to recreate the
mouse so that it looked like a keystone.
Finally, I had to redo the PA monitor. My
sponsor thought it would be cool if the cord
connecting the keyboard and mouse would be
the outline for the monitor as well. Since I had
connected the monitors outline, I had to erase
a part of it and connect two cords to each the
keyboard and mouse. It was still unfinished, but I

My Third Vector
Painting
My third vector painting was a continuation of my second
draft. First, I painted the background yellow so I could
maintain my two-rule color. Then I colored in the mouse and
the PA monitor as well. The last thing I had to complete was
the screen. My sponsor gave my many ideas of what to put
in there, but I choose to take two Wi-Fi signals and put them
on the outside of a keystone with 2016 in it. It gave the
viewer the feeling that it was sending the message of PA
2016 to everyone living in Pennsylvania wirelessly. I thought
I was done, but I learned that you have to try, try again.

My Final Vector
Painting
When I thought was finished with my logo, my sponsor
took my logo and showed to many teachers in our
school. They all said that it looked great, but our
assistant principal said that I needed to straighten out
the sides for the PA monitor. So, I had to start my final
vector painting. So, I used the lasso and polygon lasso
tool to straighten out the sides of the computer monitor.
Then I had to position some of the features so the logo
looked complete. Finally, I had finished my logo and
overall, it was a beautiful piece of art.
