Major Concepts: Laboratory-centered, the course exposes students to methods of scientific inquiry and
elementary error analysis. Course design requires students to develop a solid background in the conceptual
basis of physics as well strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. The course is a comprehensive
treatment of the topics of mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and waves and oscillations.
Quarter 4: Waves
Pe: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the properties and behaviors of mechanical and
electromagnetic waves.
Indicators Pe.1-Pe.6
Pf: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the properties and behaviors of sound.
Indicators Pf.1-Pf.9
Pg: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the properties and behaviors of light and optics.
Indicators Pg.1-Pg.10
