OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to use the problem solving
maps to teach as many topics as possible so
that students internalize the thinking skills
to the extent that they use them to solve
future problems on their own.

CONCLUSION GRAPH
Purpose:
The main teaching objective is for
students to uncover math rules by seeing a
pattern from specific examples.
CONCLUSION GRAPH
Conclusion Graph Example
FINDING THE VOLUME OF A RECTANGULAR PRISM
Example 1
Example 2
length = 9 dm
V=lwh
width = 8.6 dm
V =9dm x 8 dm x 5 dm
height = 5 dm
V = 360
Conclusion:
Example 3

The formula
l=5
V = lwh
V = lwh is used to
find the volume
of a rectangular
prism.
V = lwh
V = 3.78

REFLECTION:
Creating an example conclusion graph
clearly define the rule/conclusion that
teacher wants to find out by their students.
They will be able to give examples that is
specific to the rule. This approach clearly
develops the critical thinking of the
students through stating their conclusion
and giving their own example.
MULTI-RULE BRANCH
Purpose:
The main teaching objective is for
students to provide the steps to solve a
problem along with the logic (using math
rules) supporting each step.

REFLECTION:
Using the multi-rule branch provide
access to the rules related to the topic. This
develops childrens critical thinking by
simply understanding the rules provided
they will understand the steps to follow in
solving the problem.
MATH BREAKER
Purpose:
Breaking problems into smaller subproblems.

Constant Value of
Value of
= 3.14
Where r = 5
A = 2
A = 3.14 (25)
A = 78.5 2
= 5 x 5 = 25
REFLECTION:
Using the Math Breaker provides an
intermediate step towards mastering the
process. Also it provides and help the
students understand the steps and sequence
them, and let them do the math breaker by
themselves. This approach clearly develops
the critical thinking through identifying
possible obstacles to implement the math
breaker and identify ways to overcome that
obstacles.
