Position: Foundation Director
About the Company
The Kern Energy and Agriculture Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit
corporation, was established by 8minutenergy Renewables in 2014. Our mission is to
provide educational opportunities for underserved youth and young adults in Kern
County, focusing on creating pathways to sustainable careers in two of the Countys key
industries agriculture and energy. This mission includes building capacity for more
robust and impactful programs at local educational institutions, as well as supporting
community-based programs.
Objective
Provides long-range strategic leadership and day-to-day administration of the Kern
Agriculture and Energy Education Foundation (KAEAF). Responsible for coordinating
the distribution of Foundation funds through student scholarships, faculty grants,
purchases of equipment, student academy support, transportation, and other means to
advance the quality of the high schools academic programs. Reports to the executive
board; and works in collaboration with the local electorate, 8Minutenergy executives,
and Arvin High School administrators for the advancement of the Foundations goals.
Director, Foundation Job Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: promote the involvement of Arvin
and Bakersfield community leaders and other advocates of Arvin High School (AHS) in
furthering the academic goals of the school; participate with the Foundation Board, AHS
Principal, and Kern High School District (KHSD) Superintendent in formulating
Foundation goals and objectives; interpret and communicate the goals and needs of
AHS to the Foundation Board, the business community, the media, and the public;
represent the Foundation on various KHSD and community committees; participate
with AHS business and finance office staff in developing budgets and accounting for all
Foundation fund expenditures; prepare a variety of written reports including an annual
Foundation report, letters, brochures, grant applications, and other documents; produce
and host events using volunteers and paid staff; and coordinate the work of the
Foundation Board of Directors and its committees.
