Stage 3-learning plan


Learning activities
**constantly throughout the term students
are reading their own selected :Asia focus
novel. Students are also completing
Grammar tasks weekly. **
1. View 2020 Schools : Engage with Asia
DVD give students a context. Discuss own
opinions about what has been viewed.
What do we already know about Asia?
What stereotypes do we know?
2. Students try to identify a blank map of
Asia, listing and placing as many countries
as they can.
3. Discuss Independent reading task for the
term. Select a book by the end of the
week.
4. Students read through a big book on
Vietnam (not one of the countries of study)
as an example, and view and discuss
images of Asia.
5. Students work in small groups of 4 and
select from four countries and their picture
books read through each book.
6. Students report back to others in their
group what their book was about.
7. Students read a page from their book
aloud, and demonstrate the visual literacy
that the pictures help or further
understanding
8. Red piano read as a class
9. Students look at visual literacy questions
on The Red Piano
10. Students look at the 10 points of visual
literacy, go through a guided page from
the Red Piano.
11. Students attempt to answer the points
for a page from their selected picture
book.
12. Group discussion about visual aspects
from their picture books.
13. Students engage with iPads and
recording their reflections and attempting
to video the visual literacy discussion
14. Students receive task sheet and start
assessment 2 minute presentation, either
filmed or creating an iMovie.
