ESED 8132 Curriculum & Instruction

Curriculum Evaluation Plan

I chose to conduct a critical evaluation of classroom curriculum for Integrating Web 2.0 Tools for teachers that I
currently teach. Can educational technology significantly change educational practices? Many factors come into
play when asking this question. Learning new skills takes time, practice and most of all, patience. Challenges
are ever present and there are many technologies that allow for more inquiry-based learning. Good
technological based programs and activities can also allow for students to work collaboratively and be more
reflective. Web 2.0 tools and social networking technologies are being used to support teaching and learning in
classrooms across the United States. Even with all the excitement about integrating Web 2.0 tools into the
classroom, there is still very little known about how to do this. After completion of this class, my students will
have gained certain skills with Web 2.0 Tools and be able to demonstrate and use these skills in their future
lesson planning.
I plan to use the following plan to evaluate this curriculum to determine if incongruities exist between
classroom curriculum and professional standards and to establish discrepancies and consistencies between
expected learner outcomes and actual learner outcomes. The assessment methods I plan to use to measure the
success levels of these outcomes are either provided by the district guides and performance tasks, or are preexisting as I have previously created them in past years. They will require little modification and will require
minimal effort to organize and collect.
