Letter of Recommendation: Adam Agree
Dear Educator,

I strongly recommend Adam Agree for the position of Social Studies

teacher.
Adam Agree is a very strong Social Studies candidate. He is one of the
brightest, highly capable, and most articulate young social studies
educators I have known. This view is based on my many years of
experience in hiring and evaluating Social Studies educators as both a
Social Studies supervisor and as a professor of a Social Studies methods
course.
Adam has developed a wide range of effective instructional strategies that
he very successfully plans and implements. He is enthusiastic, innovative,
and effectively focuses on student use of knowledge and critical thinking.
He plans units and lessons that engage students in the meaningful
application of content to develop relevant understanding, rather than the
mere recall of factual information. Adam especially focuses on developing
lessons/learning experiences that engage students in applying newly
acquired concepts and knowledge to decision-making situations.
The successes Adam achieved during his student teaching are the result of
his constant reflective approach to teaching and self-analysis of his
teaching.
During student teaching he utilized suggestions from his
mentors to further refine his lessons. Adams lessons go far beyond a
mere focus on content knowledge. He stresses both student achievement
and student understanding, rather than merely placing the emphasis on
teacher coverage of the subject manner and students learning isolated
factual information.
As a student in the Methods for Teaching Social Studies course that I taught
in the Fall of 2014, Adam exhibited a strong understanding of both the

teaching and learning processes. He demonstrated an outstanding grasp of

the significance of developing meaningful and engaging learning experiences
for students. Adam is one of the finest students that I have worked with my
Social Studies Methods classes over the years. He constantly strove to refine
his teaching strategies, expand his ability to apply what he was learning, and
demonstrated a commitment to implement suggestions. He viewed every
situation as a learning opportunity.
Adam also attended many out-of-class professional development
workshops. They including: We the People competitions at Rutgers, NJCSS
conference workshops, and a workshop conducted by the Holocaust,
Genocide, and Human Rights Education Project at Montclair State for
teachers.
Adam has a very upbeat, positive and motivating personality that is an
asset in motivating and engaging students. These same interpersonal skills
result in his ability to relate well with his colleagues. Adam has very strong
communications skills.
I know that Adam Agree will make great contributions to the field of
education, and that he will have a profound impact on the students he will
be teaching. Adam is the quality of educator that principals and
supervisors have in mind as the ideal teacher.
I strongly recommend Adam Agree for a Social Studies teaching position in
your district, without any reservations.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
Respectfully,

Fred Cotterell
