The loss of Cultural Diversity in Venezuela is a major problem.

When the forests of

Venezuela began to be infiltrated and torn down this caused a serious lack of cultural diversity.
The indigenous groups that lived in the forest and thrived in the forest began to leave. This
caused a change in cultural diversity that is unable to be returned. Like other places in Latin
America Venezuela has now been crisscrossed in multiple cultures where traditions are now
intertwining (Castro, 2005).
There are different ways of dealing with cultural diversity. There is some debate among
researchers in regards to dealing with cultural diversity. There are some that discuss the
ethnocentric changes and there are those that embrace and see the differences and incorporate
those differences. In a museum in Venezuela there are many exhibitions that discuss the
differences in the cultures that have been present in the past and that are currently present. There
is also an exhibition that discusses how the cultures have now crossed and fused together mixing
cultures. These are all celebrated exhibitions, they both show the cultural diversity and they
celebrate the changes that have occurred throughout time (Castro, 2005).
Ethnic diversity can sometimes have a negative impact on the economy and the political
life in many countries. This is always a point of contention when it comes to cultural diversity
(Ahlerup & Olsson, 2012). Some countries are more fractionized then others and this can be due
to the fact that many cultures speak different languages and this contributes to the gap between
cultures in many countries.
The political movement that President Hugo Chavez has led has caused contradictions
among the three major groups in Venezuela, these groups are the organized working class, the
middle sectors, and the traditionally unincorporated sectors. These groups identify with different
lines of thinking and defend different interests. This causes a lot of friction within Venezuela, the

cultural diversity of the country contributes to these groups as they are somewhat fractioned
(Ellner, 2013).
Cultural Diversity in a country such as Venezuela can be both a hinder and a hope to the
cultural climate of the country. There are many positives of Cultural Diversity and it is
something that many people will embrace over time. As the people begin to embrace and
understand cultural diversity it will allow the country to grow both economically and politically.
