Internship Objectives and Requirements
The goal of the internship is to provide the student with an opportunity to participate in the operation
of the College of Media, thereby enhancing the student's knowledge in this area. The student should
develop a thorough understanding of how the College of Media operates, its organizational structure,
and services provided by the College of Media.
Jillian Kothanek will serve as an intern at the College of Media during the fall semester of the 20152016 academic year. She will work toward fulfilling requirements for the 495 course. Internship
responsibilities as outlined below will be performed under the supervision of Lisa Wells, Recruiter for
the College of Media.
Goals: Below are the goals the intern has developed with his/her internship supervisor.
To learn how to use social media as an important recruitment tool for the College of Media.

Learning Objectives: Below are the activities and areas of learning that will help the intern
achieve his/her goal. These activities are agreed upon with the internship supervisor.
Launch and maintain the colleges social media accounts
Attend departmental events to gather appropriate social media content
Conduct student interviews to be featured in a promotional video for the college
Collaborate with College of Media faculty and alum to execute social media marketing
campaigns
Learning Outcomes: Below are the learning outcomes the student hopes to accomplish at the
end of the semester that will be used to identify whether the student has accomplished the goals
outlined above.
I will be able to describe the role social media plays in recruitment.
I will be able to walk through the process of running a social media campaign.
I will be aware of all the opportunities and services the College of Media provides for its
students.

Proposed Internship Schedule


The following schedule of hours will be maintained by the intern to satisfy the 100 clock hours
necessary for completion. Changes in this schedule will be discussed with the site supervisor in
advance.
Indicate the days and times you will work in your internship site below:
40 hours dedicated to research and development of a strategic plan (Completed)
10 hours dedicated to video production and editing
1 hour/ day dedicated to maintaining social media accounts
1 hour/ Friday dedicated to checking in and discussing projects with Lisa over the phone
