November Brought Much to Sing About!

On November 10th Herbert Mills prepared for an

amazing, collaborative night filled with singing,
math, literacy, resources and so much more! The
night kicked off with Mr. Ashtons first concert of
the year, showcasing students individual solo
talents, as well as the energized voice of the 3rd
and 4th grade classes. The group debuted songs
from across America, and then spread their vocal
abilities to songs native to India, France and Israel.
Following the concert the Mills halls were stocked
and the staff was prepared and ready to teach, demonstrate and support parents and
families in understanding the various math and literacy techniques utilized during class to
expand student thinking. The classrooms were filled with information regarding blended
learning programs, phonemic awareness games,
and go-to ideas to use when practicing at home!
A few of the programs on display included:
Achieve3000, Code.org, Lexia, and ST Math.
It must not go unnoted that without the
enthusiasm and kind support of so many of our
Herbet Mills families in attendance on this night
our Math and Literacy night would not have been
so successful. Thank you to all the wonderful
students, families, staff that came together to
make for a very memorable night!

DARE Program Coming to our 4th grade

when treated unkindly, and overall being a

Teacher Spotlight!
Miss Farkas is a 1st grade teacher at Mills! She graduated from OSU and has had
experiences in preschools, libraries, daycares and several elementaries. Miss
Farkas has really enjoyed working in a STEM school here at Herbert Mills and is
excited to continue to explore the possibilities and opportunities available.
Throughout the year, Miss Farkas hopes that her students leave 1st grade with the
skills necessary to be learners for life. She wants her students to feel excited and
prepared for the many years they have ahead of them in school.
Outside of school you might catch Miss Farkas exercising, biking or cheering on
the Buckeyes! You may even catch her doing a ballet or two-as she once
attempted a career as a professional ballerina!
