What are Birth

Control Pills?
Throughout the years many have come to the idea
of accepting birth control pills and have thought
it was a new way of preventing pregnancies.
While it decreases the chances of pregnancies,
there are also some negative side effects to these
pills.
Types of Birth Control Pills: The three
most common types of birth control pills
are combination pills and progesterone
only pills (POP).

Combination Pills: contain both

estrogen and progestin. Each pill in
pack contains a combination of
these two hormones
Progesterone Only Pills: contain no
estrogen. It also may be called
mini pill or progestin-only pill.
Ideal for breastfeeding women and
women who cannot take estrogen.
Emergency Contraceptive Pills: not
intended to be used regularly as
contraceptive. Designed to prevent
pregnancy after unprotected sex.
Combination and Progesterone Only Pills
are equally effective and should go to a
doctor to determine which is right for
patient.
