Erikson, Robert S., Joseph Bafumi, and Bret Wilson. "Was the 2000 Presidential Election
Predictable?" PS: Political Science and Politics 34.4 (2001): 815-9. Print.
[This article analyzes the 2000 presidential election, in which President Bush won, and looks at
whether or not the outcome was predictable or not. This article is important to my research
paper because it asks the same question that Im asking: is it possible to predict the outcome
of a future election based on evidence? However, one weakness is that this article is purely
based on hindsight while mine is based on foresight.]

KENSKI, KATE, and KATHLEEN HALL JAMIESON. "The Effects of Candidate Age in the
2008 Presidential Election." Presidential Studies Quarterly 40.3 (2010): 449-63. Print.
[Since Kanye West would be a very young candidate in 2020 (only 43), I decided to get
information on how age has historically correlated to presidential success. I chose the 2008
election specifically because it was the first source that I could find related to such;
however, the specific analysis of this election can allow me to make generalizations and
have starting points for finding new evidence of age-presidential success correlation.]

Kiousis, Spiro. "Explicating Media Salience: A Factor Analysis of New York Times Issue
Coverage during the 2000 U.S. Presidential Election." Journal of Communication 54.1
(2004): 71-87. Print.

Lewis-Beck, Michael S., and Charles Tien. "Proxy Models and Nowcasting: U.S. Presidential
Elections in the Future." Presidential Studies Quarterly 44.3 (2014): 506-21. Print.
[This article hypothesizes ways in which we could forecast future elections. This article is very
important because it provides a lucid method for a way that I could back up my presidential
predictions. Throughout the course of my paper, I will merely be hypothesizing based on
evidence, but how do I know if Im even hypothesizing validly? This article will help
support the grounds for my hypothesis with its models and information.]

"Poll Results: Kanye West." September 3, 2015 2015.Web.

[YouGov is a polling website where people can vote on political topics. After Kanye announced
hed be running for president in 2020, this poll was created. The data in the poll gives me
insight as to whether the American people currently have any sort of favorable opinion of
him. Most of them dont, as indicated by the poll results; however, I could easily challenge
the validity of this poll if I went deeper into the mechanics of the website.]

"Read Kanye West's Blunt, Poignant VMA Video Vanguard Award Speech
."Web. <http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/read-kanye-wests-blunt-poignant-vma-videovanguard-speech-20150831>.

[This web article on Rolling Stone gives me the transcript for Kanye Wests 2015 VMA speech
in which he announced that he would be running for president in 2020. This speech is not
only indicative of how Kanye West would approach having to speak in front of a large
group of people (which all presidents must do), but it gives a large amount of insight on
how Kanye West chooses to portray himself to the public.]

"Republican Presidential Field: The Known and the Unknown." Rhodes Cook Letter 12.2 (2011):
11-3. Print.
[This article gives some basic conventions of the Republican Party and some key issues
addressed by Republican candidates in presidential elections. While Kanye has not
generally aligned his beliefs with Republican ideology, it would be helpful to my research
paper to clearly define what he directly opposes in modern Republican ideology--whether it
be explicitly stated or otherwise.]

Simonton, Dean Keith. "Presidential IQ, Openness, Intellectual Brilliance, and Leadership:
Estimates and Correlations for 42 U.S. Chief Executives." Political Psychology 27.4 (2006):
511-26. Print.
[This source gives me several correlation table and graphs for successful presidents and their
respective measures of intelligence and leadership. The relevance of this source to my
paper is that it shows a trait that all successful presidential candidates had in common and
allows me to make generalizations. Generalizations that I can then compare to Kanye. One
weakness would be the contention behind measures of leadership and intelligence and
whether or not they actually exist.]

Spierings, Niels, and Kristof Jacobs. "Getting Personal? the Impact of Social Media on
Preferential Voting." Political Behavior 36.1 (2014): 215-34. Print.
[One reason why I intuitively believed Kanye West to have a shot at succeeding in his 2020
presidential campaign was because of his social media presence. This article researchers
into the role of social media in voting and whether or not having a social media presence in
modern campaigning is salient or not. This could be the most beneficial source to my paper
if it substantiates my claim that Kanye has a shot based on his social media, not necessarily
but possibly, alone.]

West, Kanye. New Slaves., 2013. Print.

[New Slaves is one of Kanye Wests more sociopolitically charged songs. In New Slaves, Kanye
espouses several of his opinions on the state of the black race, specifically how they have
been subjugated over time due to economic unfairness and inequality. This source will help
me gain from-the-source insight on Kanye Wests sociopolitical views that could apply to
his campaign.]

Ridder, Rick. "Some New and Old Rules for 2016 Presidential Campaigns." Journal of Political
Marketing 14.3 (2015): 223. Web.
[This article analyzes both new and old campaigning strategies and conventions and how they
apply to the current 2016 presidential election. This article is important to my research paper
because not only does it give strategies and conventions for campaigning, Kanye could utilize,
but it gives constraints as well. If Kanye were to campaign in (x) way, then how much capital
would he require? This article has the capacity to break my argument if Kanye just cant match
up, but it can also help my argument immeasurably if he can pass the restraints.]

Karol, David. "US Presidential Election 2016." Political Insight 6.2 (2015): 24-7. Web.
[This article by David Karol gives a synopsis of the current 2016 presidential campaign and its
runners. While Kanye announced that he will be running for president in 2020, observing some
of the contemporary campaign conventions found in this election will help in predicting some of
the conventions that may be held in his. This article will help me establish some American
executive conventions and see if Kanye can meet them.]
