Global Poverty
In comparison to the rest of the world the United States of Americas poverty levels seem
to be fairly minute. It seems as if the perception of what poverty truthfully is varies, which
ultimately contributes to national levels of standards of living, and dispositions on both current
and future outcomes of the studies involved. To physically survive, a person only needs to
consume small portions of food and water, and have means of shelter to sleep as well as to offer
protection from the outside worlds broad variety of harsh elements. Because America is more
advanced by means of technology than many other regions of the world, and possesses a system
of government that holds the common good of the national population as a top priority; poverty
within the nation appears to not only be defined by means of survival, but personal gain as well.
Constitutional rights and laws that have been mandated by government throughout American
history have contributed in decreasing poverty levels amongst a larger percent of the national
population. With this being said Americans income levels; along with health benefits, and many
other factors are taken into consideration when defining the amount of poverty stricken criticizes
of a given region within the nation.
American culture varies immensely from most parts of the world. Because a substantial
number of the United States population is not familiar with, or lacks education concerning the
extent of global poverty many Americans do not appreciate how nurtured their quality of life is,
and that of the nation. Such governed human rights have been taken for granted by citizens of the

United States, and many even go as far as participating in rent seeking behavior. Many
individuals residing in countries suffering with economic inefficiency will go to extremities to
have a fraction of the rights United States citizens posses, which has been clearly demonstrated
in the perpetual rise of immigrants entering America legally and illegally.
Income levels of families in America are relatively high in comparison to a substantial
amount of countries around the globe such as the many nations within the continent of Africa.
The World Bank has made a recent study that relatively; estimates that poorer families
averaging four people have approx. twenty dollars to spend a day (Census.gov). If one were to
divide said twenty dollars by four people it would roughly equal five dollars a day in individual
spending distributed amongst a family of four. This may be more than triple the amount of
individual spending per day within foreign countries on average. With such low means of income
distributed amongst poverty stricken regions of the world, and weighed against national inflation
rates of those regions many people are left without the capability to sustain themselves for
minimal lengths of time, and that providing for a family of four is absolutely unattainable. The
ratio of income levels in comparison to inflation rates is a distinguishing factor in 1st and 3rd
world countries, and may also be a primary factor in high national fatality rates within poverty
stricken nations.
To form a proposed and functional abasement that would contribute in minimizing or
eliminating poverty amongst nations of the world abroad requires a substantial amount of work.
Acknowledgement of what diversifies a specific region of the world is a tedious process where
immense critical thinking skills must be applied. Scrutinizing both micro-economical and macroeconomical aspects on national levels must also be micromanaged before any allocations on a
global level.

Three things in suggestion to help reduce global poverty would be: an expansion of
education levels in poverty stricken nations, advancements in agriculture, and the elimination of
corrupt governments. There are many different organizations throughout the world that have
offered assistance in expanding education levels within underdeveloped and/or poverty stricken
nations, which are considered to be of the greatest significance in minimizing global poverty. In
particular the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has
spent multiple years in organizing projects that have acquired a substantial amount of resources
internationally that have been implemented within poverty stricken regions of the world, and
have had positive results.
UNESCOs contributions in educating the youth within multiple nations may also break a
proposed cycle of illiterate aspiring adults that will have a future impact on annual income rates
of their nation and government. If extra income of a given nation is then managed properly over
time, and delegated primarily to internal affairs such as agricultural advancements the annual
wealth of the nations are more likely to prosper. Other long-term effects include minimizing, or
eliminating corrupt governments. This is supported by an assumption that if a nation has a
smaller population of undereducated individuals; it is hypothesized that individuals of corrupted
governments will be replaced, and adequate systems will be adopted overtime.
