One School Week
Students will spend one hour and a half each school
day in the computer lab constructing Impromptu
essays based on a daily topic.
6-8.CI.1. apply common software features (e.g.,
spellchecker, thesaurus, formulas, charts, graphics,
sounds) to enhance
Communication with an audience and to support
creativity. (Board of Education, 2009)
Student will enhance their writing skills by
constructing an Impromptu Narrative essay in
class.
Students will do so using Microsoft Word to
acquire a higher level of technology literacy.
Students will become comfortable with using
software applications.
Students will learn to apply common software
features.
Students will obtain good typing skills.
Student will improve critical thinking skills.
Students will become more efficient writers at
a higher speed.

1. Students will assemble in the classroom to hear
the clear instructions and topic for that day.
2. Once the topic is announced, students will
begin creating an essay based on that given
topic.
3. Students will have 30 minutes to construct
their essays.
4. Once the time is up, I will have them all submit
what they have to me via email.
5. Once collected, I will allow them to read and/or
finish where they left off.
After completing these essays each day throughout
the school week, students will have an assessment

essay at the end of the week with the same


guidelines. They will come in, receive the assigned
topic and get started on their essay. They will not
have a chance to complete it after their time is up.
