Colonial Development - Importance of Shipping and Trade
Discuss the important of and implication of trade with regards to the colonies prior to 1776
In class we have studied a lot reason about colonies came to America. We know colonies
from England and other European countries sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to the America
colonies so some left Europe to escape religious restrictions or persecution, to practice their
religion freely. Many came for political freedom and some came for economic opportunity. More
important these freedom and opportunities often did not exist in the colonists home countries.
For these settlers the American colonies were trade and ship for freedom and new life.
The early colonial period of the U.S was large because product trade with Britain.
Everything from the land of colonies, and independence from England rule to the trade with the
markets grew in location. Exploration and European discovery of the Americas, Portugal started
oversea in Atlantic growth. Although European world leader in long-distance exploration so
Portugal became involved in salve trade in West Africa. Portugal was taken by Spain and their
settlements in America lacked solid long-lasting foundation. At that time other countries began to
settle to control this area to continue growth and immigration. Settlements and colonies were
establishing farms, fishing for ship. They wanted their product will be good and wanted to trade
with other countries to help in the area.

People who settled in the New England colonies, they really want to do themselves and
not depending on other people. So they had large in farming and fishing communities. They grew
a lot own food. People who founded the Middle colonies, they looked practice religion, and
made money. That why they were hard worker in ironworks and shipyards. The founders of the
Southern colonies, they kept their families together on the plantation. They made good money
which was available in the American markets.
From all of these corps, tobacco, rice, grains across of the Southern into Middle areas
during the colonial area. It was useful in ship and trade. And they had value on the markets so
England took control of the area that would later become to the United States. Export submitted
largely of tobacco, bread, flours, rice, fish, wheat, indigo, corn, board, staves and heading, horses
(point from text book). The imports from England were manufactured well which the colonies
could not great in their new settlements. This diversity of imports and exports are good example
the value of the trade relationship with the new territories.
The unique and plentiful natural resources from England that was found and cultivated in
these new areas, at the same time the colonists still relied on the good that they had grown
accustomed to from before their immigration. Trade continued as the colonies grew, and became
independent from the England throne. It also helps to influence other thing and changing to the
wealth. And I think. Today, many people come to the United States for the same reason is just
freedom for new life.
