MARJA CASUALTY RELEASE

KABUL, Afghanistan (Jan. 05, 2016) One U.S. service member died as a result of
wounds sustained during operations near Marja in Helmand Province today.
Additionally, two U.S. service members were wounded.
"We are deeply saddened by this loss," said Brig. Gen. Wilson A. Shoffner, USFOR-A
Spokesman. "On behalf of General Campbell and all of USFOR-A, our heartfelt
sympathies go out to the families and friends of those involved."
U.S. Department of Defense Policy is to withhold the identity of the service member
pending next-of-kin notification. We will release additional information as appropriate.
