Labette Center calls for Nominations for the

Sixth Annual Care and Compassion Awards
Labette Center for Mental Health Services (LCMHS) is asking for nominations for the sixth annual Care and Compassion Awards. The Care and
Compassion Awards recognize those in the Labette
County community and LCMHS staff members who
routinely go above and beyond to show care and
compassion to others.
Nominees can be anyone in the Labette County community, including employees of LCMHS, who have gone above and beyond to show care and compassion
to others, LCMHS Executive Director Matthew Atteberry said. This person
does not necessarily have to be someone who volunteers for a lot of different
things, but someone who is extraordinarily caring and routinely demonstrates
compassion towards others.
Community members and LCMHS staff may submit entries. All entries must
have the name of the person being nominated, an address and if possible a
phone number and/or an email address. It is also helpful to include the name and
phone number for the person who is submitting the nomination, although it is
not required. A detailed description of why the person is being nominated must
also be included and should be at least 500 words in length. For more details on
submitting an entry for the award, individuals can visit Labette Centers website
at www.lcmhs.com, check us out on Facebook, by calling Monica Simpson at
620-421-3770 or 800-303-3770, or by emailing monica@lcmhs.com. Be sure
to like the Centers Facebook page to receive updates and information about the
Care and Compassion Awards.
The deadline for entries is 5 pm February 26th, 2016. Entries will then be reviewed, judged, award recipients will be officially announced during the annual
Care and Compassion Awards Banquet. Entries can be mailed to, or dropped
off at Labette Center for Mental Health Services, PO Box 258, 1730 Belmont,
Parsons, KS 67357, attention: Monica Simpson. All mailed entries should have
CCAB on the envelope. Entries may also be submitted through our website,
www.lcmhs.com or our Facebook page.

LCMHS Welcomes New My Family Labette Resource Specialist

Labette Center welcomes Kimber Martinez to our staff as
the new My Family Labette Resource Specialist! Kimber
began working with the Center on January 5th, 2016. The
My Family Labette program is now in its third year and
continues to grow and expand, helping the youth in Labette County.
This program was made possible through the use of grant funding, which has
been awarded by U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration and
the support of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).
This funding provides the Center monies to continue the My Family Labette
Program, which is a Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting
(MIECHV) Program for families within Labette County.
The purpose of this program is to provide families a centralized process that
will identify familys needs and wants, and connect them to community resources and services. I am excited that LCMHS is able to be a part of a program that is only offered in
three other counties in Kansas. Our My Family Resource Specialist will be able to outreach to families in our
community so that they are more aware of the services available. stated Misti Mustain, Director of Specialty
Services at Labette Center for Mental Health. The My Family Program assists families with children birth
to five years of age, as well as women who are pregnant, to assure they have the education, skills, resources,
and opportunities to succeed. This is a collaborative effort with Early Head Start, Healthy Families American,
and Parents as Teachers programs.
Kimber will be spending time seeing clients in both the office, in
the community and during visits to homes.
