STOP GLOBAL WARMING

EXPLANATION OF GLOBAL
WARMING
A gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's

atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by

increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other
pollutants.
I would like to support to stop global warming, because global

warming have shown negative effects on the environment, the

human social and the agriculture.

CAUSES OF GLOBAL
WARMING
Electricity Production Burn fossil fuels, mostly coal and natural gas.
Transportation Burning fossil fuels for cars, trucks and planes.
Industry Chemical reaction to produce goods for raw materials.

CAUSES OF GLOBAL
WARMING
Commercial and Residental -

Businesses and homes arise primarily from

fossil fuels burned for heat, the use of certain products that contain
greenhouse gases, and the handling of waste.
Agriculture

agricultural soils, and rice production.

Livestock such as cows,

CAUSES OF GLOBAL
WARMING
Land Use and Forestry - Land areas can act as a sink (absorbing CO 2from

the atmosphere) or a source of greenhouse gas emissions. In the United

States, since 1990, managed forests and other lands have absorbed more
CO2from the atmosphere than they emit.

EFFECT OF GLOBAL
WARMING
Ice is melting worldwide, especially at the Earths poles. This includes

mountain glaciers, ice sheets covering West Antarctica and Greenland, and
Arctic sea ice.

Sea level rise became faster over the last century.

Researcher Bill Fraser has tracked the decline of the Adlie penguins on

Antarctica, where their numbers have fallen from 32,000 breeding pairs to
11,000 in 30 years.

EFFECT OF GLOBAL
WARMING
Though growing seasons in some areas will expand, the combined impacts

of drought, severe weather, lack of snowmelt, greater number and diversity

of pests, lower groundwater tables and a loss of arable land could cause
severe crop failures and livestock shortages worldwide.

SOLUTIONS OF GLOBAL
WARMING

Stop deforestation - Reducing tropical deforestation can significantly lower

global warming emissions and together with efforts to reduce emissions from
fossil fuels.

Use renewable energy - Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind,

geothermal and bioenergy are available around the world. Multiple studies
have shown that renewable energy has the technical potential to meet the
vast majority of our energy needs. Renewable technologies can be deployed
quickly, are increasingly cost-effective, and create jobs while reducing
pollution.

SOLUTIONS OF GLOBAL
WARMING
Greening transportation: Improving efficiency (miles per gallon) in all

modes of transport, switching to low-carbon fuels, and reducing vehicle

miles traveled through smart growth and more efficient mass
transportation systems.
