NEW POLL RESULTS Demings holds commanding lead in Floridas 10th CD
Val Demings is dominating the Democratic Primary in Floridas newly drawn, heavily Democratic (+10 DPI)
10th Congressional District. Demings is well-known and popular across the district and leads her rivals by
double-digits among every demographic group. Key findings from Global Strategy Groups and Public
Policy Pollings recent poll of 506 likely 2016 Democratic Primary voters are as follows:
Demings holds a strong 20-point advantage. Demings currently leads State Senator Geraldine
Thompson by 20 points (44% to 24%) with former Florida Democratic Party Chairman Bob Poe trailing
behind with 7% and 25% of likely primary voters still undecided.
Demings popularity is driving her support. A majority of primary voters hold a favorable opinion of
Demings (55% favorable/17% unfavorable) which exceeds the positive feelings voters have for
Thompson (48% favorable/23% unfavorable). Far fewer are familiar with Poe and those who do know
him rate him unfavorably (14% favorable/21% unfavorable).
Demings holds appeal across the district. Demings is the preferred candidate of primary voters
regardless of race, gender or age. She leads Thompson by double-digits among African-Americans
(47% to 30%), whites (45% to 19%), and Hispanics (31% to 15%); Demings lead over Thompson is as
great among women (45% to 24%) as men (43% to 23%); and, Demings is stronger than Thompson
among younger voters (36% to 16% age 18-45; 49% to 23% age 46 to 65) and seniors (43% to 31%).
