Consent Items:
Copies of the October 8, 2015 and the October 2015 Financial Report were provided to the members for
their review prior to the meeting, with copies provided at the meeting. A Motion to approve the Minutes
and Financial Report was made by Scott, Second by Greg. Motion passed.
2016 Budget:
Luis reported that the budget was approved today and we are at a $215K deficit. The committee
discussed why, how they are looking at the budget and what to do about it. Chris L. stated it was partly
on the combination of sites. He stated the feeding programs are secured for next year. The State of
Florida made cuts along with the Justice Department and Department of Education. We are serving
more kids and connecting with the right partners. We are adding a new position, an Accounting
Manager Assistant.
The Finance Committee has approved the budget. Chris and Brad Baumgardner had concerns that we
couldnt stop program services and that we should have pushed harder for funding.
Chris will be asking our Foundation for support. The GFB is a 50/50 split. Last year we netted $300K
on our half. There was discussion on speaking with the Foundation and we didnt want it to become
complicated. The focus is on our kids. The Foundation has a fixed 5% that they give us every year.
Luis reiterated that this money we will be asking for is for the children.
Scott made a Motion to approve the 2016 Budget, Seconded by Greg, Motion carried.
Investment Report:
Deborah McCarthy reported that the 3rd Quarter of the Investment Report was ugly. We have seen
increases in the negative and as of November 30th, our portfolio is at $20K but we should end up with
$28K. The Finance Committee needs to get an active manager. We would earn more from then than
what we would pay them.
