Formative vs Summative Assessment both very similar but very different.

Formative assessment is used like sub-goals for students to maintain objective in

small increments. It is a step by step with assessments at end of each objective.
Some examples are assigning projects, writing assignments, asking questions as
you go if someone doesnt understand clarify. Summative Assessment is your more
traditional way when you have midterm and final project, paper, or exam. Teacher
usually just provides the information about the knowledge they need to obtain.
Grades are more heavily weighted and hold a higher value each opportunity it is
presented. The goal of summative assessment is to evaluate student learning at the
end of unit by comparing standards (educatorstechnology.com). Teachers view
plays more of a role in formative assessing because it is how the teacher presents
then how they break it down to the students and how they would want to go about
testing or assessing the student on how the learned the information and if they
understand it or not (edweekly.com). Summative is more set in stone because you
know what needs to be over by a certain time and you go at your pace to meet. The
class is more summarized than detailed. According to Boundless.com Kindergarten
to High School formative assessment is more valued because youre teaching same
class daily and you can assess the students progression through the days and
modify class material as needed. Some ideas for formative are having red (dont
understand), yellow (understand partially), and green cards (fully understand) you
would give these to the students and as you teach you would see the card the
student would display after material (globalcitzen.org). A thing I have used
previously in at my junior college and high school are clickers a remote with letters
on it that you sync up to a computer to answer questions and after each question
the correct answer is displayed showing the results of how class, which Is useful for

the teacher and students to gain knowledge of what is the understanding level of
the classroom.
