AN OPEN LETTER TO VOTING MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL RIFLE

ASSOCIATION
You currently have an opportunity to vote on a Special Issue Ballot
included in your copy of the March 2016 edition of American Rifleman.
The question is whether to endorse the recall of Grover Norquist from the
NRA Board of Directors.
In the interest of ensuring you are able to cast an informed vote, I
wanted to share several of the key findings of a dossier documenting Mr.
Norquists longstanding involvement with prominent operatives of the
Muslim Brotherhood, including two who were convicted on terrorismrelated charges. I joined nine other prominent national security
professionals including former Attorney General Michael Mukasey,
former Director of Central Intelligence R. James Woolsey, former U.S.
Representative Allen West, former federal prosecutor Andrew C.
McCarthy, former U.S. Ambassador Henry Cooper, former Defense
Department Inspector General Joseph Schmitz and retired Lieutenant
General William Jerry Boykin in calling attention to this very
troubling record back in February 2014.1
While some would have you believe that these involve old charges,
as someone who has spent his professional life in and involved with the
U.S. military, the evidence of Grover Norquists involvement with and
enabling of our nations enemies is damning and poses in my judgment, at
a minimum, a current reputational risk for the NRA.
As one of the roughly two million voting members of the National Rifle
Association, you need to decide whether these findings describe an
individual with the the values and priorities of the NRA and, specifically,
whether he should continue to have a role in its leadership:

Islamist enemies of the United States, led by the Muslim Brotherhood,

are engaged in a concerted effort to destroy this country and impose
their supremacist doctrine of shariah worldwide.

The Muslim Brotherhood is using techniques it calls civilization jihad

to destroy Western civilization from withinby [our] hands.

1 You can access at no charge a pdf of the entire dossier entitled Agent of
Influence: Grover Norquist and the Assault on the Right at
www.SecureFreedom.org. Its current, fourth edition is subtitled, Targeting
the NRA.

Political influence operations are among such techniques and are

being used against American civil society institutions and government.

Muslim Brotherhood front groups and operatives have targeted,

among others, the Republican Party and conservative movement.

Leaders of organizations identified by the federal government as

Muslim Brotherhood fronts and in some cases tied to terrorists were
involved in influence operations targeting the GOP and conservatives
during the late 1990s and some or all of the decade that followed. Such
leaders included notably, Abdurahman Alamoudi, Sami al-Arian, Nihad
Awad and Khaled Saffuri.

Over the past [eighteen] years, Grover Norquist has had personal,
professional and/or organizational associations with each of these
Muslim Brotherhood operatives.

Norquists connections, organizations and personal efforts have

enabled the influence operations of Islamists, including Iran.

Representations that there are no factual bases for these conclusions

are, themselves, without foundation.

Thanks for your consideration of this information and for the

decision you will be better able to make having taken it aboard.
