DINNER A CONVERSATION WITH PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH


PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH served as the 43rd President of the United States, marking a rapid
rise to the top American political office. As President, he led the country through some of its
most challenging times, including the aftermath of the September 11th attacks. He is credited
for his counterterrorism policies and education-reform legislation, among other things. Prior to
his Presidency, he served as the 46th Governor of Texas. Since leaving the White House, President
Bush has partnered with President Clinton to establish the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund in order to raise
contributions for relief and recovery efforts following the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Additionally, he
founded the George W. Bush Institute, a public policy organization that focuses on economic
growth, education reform, global health, and human freedom. President Bush is the author of
two bestselling books, Decision Points and 41: A Portrait of My Father.

LUNCH A CONVERSATION WITH ECONOMIST ANGUS DEATON, A 2015


NOBEL PRIZE WINNER
Angus Deaton was awarded the 2015 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his analysis
of consumption, poverty, and welfare. Mr. Deatons contributions to the study of individual
human behavior has provided deep insight for policy makers addressing economic welfare and
income inequality. His current research is focused on the determinants of health in rich and poor
countries, as well as the measurement of poverty in India and around the world. Mr. Deaton, a
U.K.-born economist, earned his PhD in economics at Cambridge University before becoming the
Dwight D. Eisenhower Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University. In
addition to his 2015 Nobel Prize for Economics, Mr. Deaton is the recipient of numerous accolades,
including the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award and the first Frisch Medal. In 2013,
he published a book summarizing his positive outlook on world progress titled The Great Escape:
Health, Wealth, and the Origins of Inequality.
