What causes wind? Wind is caused by the uneven heating
and cooling of the earths surface caused by the sun.
The warm air near the equator pushes towards the
poles and the colder air in turn moves toward the
equator.
What determines how much friction there is? How rough or
smooth something is.
Give an example of high friction: sliding on concrete,
rubbing sand paper on something, pulling a heavy
box.
Give an example of low friction: sliding on ice, wheels
rolling on a smooth surface, adding wax to a
surface..
How is a delta formed? Water slows down dropping off
sediments in a new area. Over time new land is formed.
What would cause a puddle of water to evaporate quicker?
Add more heat, add wind, spread out so the surface
area is greater.
Why does 50ml of water evaporate quicker in a beaker than it
does in a tall graduated cylinder? The water has more
surface area exposed in the beaker.
Water sticking to the outside of a cold water bottle is an
example of what? Condensation-warm moist air is
attracted to cool bottle
What is weather? The current conditions of a place; rain,
temperature, sunny, cloudy
Why do storms happen? When a warm front mixes with a
cold front storms can form along these boundaries.
Is geothermal energy and hydropower something we need
more of or less of and why? We need more because it they
are renewable
