Raja Seizes Commanding Lead in Race to

Replace Tammy Duckworth in Congress
Krishnamoorthi holds 55-17 lead over Mike Noland with one week to go
before primary election
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., (March 7, 2016) - A new poll shows small businessman Raja Krishnamoorthi has bolstered
his lead in the Democratic primary for Congress in the 8th District of Illinois that includes the northwest Chicago
suburbs.
Krishnamoorthi has the support of 55 percent of voters with State Sen. Mike Noland at 17 percent and Villa Park
President Deb Bullwinkel with 9 percent. Undecided voters accounted for 19 percent of the poll. The margin of
error was +/- 4.9 percentage points in the poll taken by GBA Strategies.
The poll results show Democratic primary voters coalescing behind Raja to succeed Tammy Duckworth in
Congress for the 8th District. A poll taken in February showed Krishnamoorthi with a 41-27 lead over Noland.
Every day I get to go door-to-door and speak with voters in 8th District in the northwest Chicago suburbs," Raja
said. Hardworking families are telling me they want my progressive policies to grow and strengthen the middle
class, preserve Social Security and Medicare, fight for common sense gun laws and protect women's rights.
During the last week of this campaign, I will redouble my efforts to reach every voter in the 8th District to share
my progressive vision for the future of our country.
Taken March 3-6 by GBA Strategies, this live poll of 400 likely Democratic voters asked 8th District voters in the
northwest Chicago suburbs which candidate they would vote for if the election were held today.
The poll results follow fundraising reports filed by the candidates last week with the Federal Elections
Commission and revealing that Krishnamoorthi has $1,019,784 cash on hand compared to $63,357 for Noland
and $3,403 for Bullwinkel.

Raja is "the best candidate, hands down," wrote the Chicago Tribune in its endorsement of Raja for Congress,
making it a clean sweep of Chicago area newspaper endorsements for Raja with the Daily Herald and Chicago
Sun-Times also endorsing him.
Leading progressive groups such as Sierra Club and two leading good government groups - Citizen
Action/Illinois and the Independent Voters of Illinois Independent Precinct Organization (IVI-IPO) - have all
endorsed Raja as the leading progressive candidate to replace Rep.Tammy Duckworth to represent the 8th
District in Congress.
In addition, Krishnamoorthi has a long list of labor unions endorsing him in the March 15 Democratic primary,
including the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 881, Illinois Education Association, Amalgamated
Transit Union, the United Steelworkers, the Ironworkers, the Illinois State Council of Machinists, the Air Line
Pilots Association, the Transport Workers Union, the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 2, and
the Office & Professional Employees International Union Local 45.
A small businessman, Raja Krishnamoorthi currently serves as president of Sivananthan Labs and Episolar, Inc.,
small businesses that sell products in the national security and renewable energy industries. He is a co-founder
of InSPIRE, a non-profit organization that provides training to Illinois students and veterans in solar technology,
and was formerly Vice-Chairman of the Illinois Innovation Council, whose mission is to promote innovative
technologies that support economic growth and job creation in Illinois. Raja resides in Schaumburg with his wife,
Priya, and their two sons.
