I am honored to write this Letter of Recommendation in full support of Vanessa Balanons academic and life accomplishments. She is clearly
a well-developed, disciplined, and devoted student in many aspects. Mentoring Vanessa as my student for five years has allowed me to assess
her academic and artistic work closely.
Vanessa clearly demonstrates that she was an outstanding student while at Sanger High School. She executes every task she attempts to the
best of her ability. Along with maintaining an astonishing 4.3 GPA with AP Honors courses, Vanessa was highly involved in many extracurricular activities.
Vanessa has obtained noteworthy skills through participation in several organizations such as: Member of the Sanger High School Apache
Marching Band and Colorguard (Flute, 3 years), Wind Ensemble I (Flute, 2 years), Wind Ensemble II (Flute, 1 year), Band Council (Uniform
Co-Captain, 1 year), and Jazz Band (Piano, 3 years). Vanessa also received an Outstanding Performance Award at the San Joaquin Valley
Jazz Festival. With her active involvement in these extra-curricular activities, Vanessa was able to gain lifelong skills in responsibility, selfdiscipline, commitment, teamwork, team leadership, and problem solving with peers.
In addition to her participation in her high school academic career, Vanessa has been involved in countless community service events such as:
Upward Bound Summer Internship (2015), participated in the SAM Academy (Science, Art, Music - 2015) as a SAM Academy Young Artist
Studio Participant (2015), Dream Team Member (Church Leader for Childrens Service, 2014-Present), provided flute lessons to elementary
students, volunteered at the Color Run, and volunteered for a Backpack Giveaway.
Vanessas productive involvement in the Band and Colorguard Program and community events compliments her compassionate personality.
Her personality comprises of a positive and kind-hearted attitude. She is always willing to care for others and encourages growth from
within. She is also a hard worker and strives to improve her creative, artistic, analytical, and academic skills. She often works to persevere in
perfection until she accomplishes her goals. With ambitions of pursuing a career in Music Therapy, I strongly believe Vanessa will continue
to utilize her knowledge and talents after graduation and will continue to achieve exceptional success at a higher-level of education at an
accredited university, working career, and in life.
