I think that this critics statement supports my

ideas because it shows that

Brockington,
Jr.

Through distortion and propaganda, Snowball

becomes the enemy. Napoleon becomes the
dictator of Animal Farm. Under Napoleon, the
commune is no longer permitted to discuss or to
debate; it must simply follow orders. Squealer,
the propagandist, constantly rewrites history to
reflect new realities. The dogs enforce the orders
of the pig ruling class, which increasingly takes
on the characteristics of the humans whom the
animals have overthrown.

This texture of evidence adds on to my strong

claim about Snowball and Napoleon slowly
becoming a dictatorship and ruining Animal Farm.
The democracy and form of government when Old
Major was there had all the animals happy. Then,
Napoleon turns everything upside down. Napoleon
and Snowball begin to gain too much power. They
become more like supreme rulers than honorable
leaders. They both begin to curve and change up
the amendments they set for everyone. They also
have Squealer, who is their own persuasive
speaker. Then the pack of dogs, who is the army
and reinforcement of Napoleon, act as Napoleons
own personal body guards. The dogs were taken
from their mother by Napoleon, and locked away
from all the other animals. Supposedly, the pups
were going to be taken for educational purposes,
but theyre were educated to obey and stay loyal to
Napoleon. Napoleon has many elements to
become a successful dictator.

Brockington,
Jr.

Many of the animals, especially Boxer, continue

to work hard; but it becomes more difficult to
accept the new regime. The all-powerful
Napoleon carries a whip, the symbol of human
oppression, as his badge of authority.

Boxer, who is slowwitted, but very motivated to

work, has much physical strength. Napoleon, who
has all control of the animals, treats Boxer like a
slave. He works Boxer like he is a work machine.
Boxer is becoming tired, but he is determined to
help out and keep going. Eventually, many of
these animals become unhappy with the laws
created by Napoleon. The animals were happy at
one point when the laws actually made sense and
amendments were created to provide liberty and
freedom. Now the animals realize that Napoleon is
taking the role of a leader, and turning it into the
king of all the animals. The dictatorship of
Napoleon refers to the revolutionary war.
Napoleon represents Josef Stalin. Josef Stalin was
a well-known Russian dictator. He controlled
everything and had supreme power over everyone,
much like Napoleon the pig. Stalin and Napoleon

both share common traits and beliefs.

Animal Farm abounds with allegory, beginning

with Old Major, who recalls Karl Marx. Every
character and event may be seen as symbolic of
historical Russian figures and events between the
years 1917 and 1943.

Many characters in Animal Farm play a major role

in the Russian Revolution. For example, Snowball
played a major role in the Russian Revolution. He
was very respected by the animals. Snowball was
young, smart, a good speaker, and idealistic.
Snowball was going to be a great leader. He really
wanted to make life better for all animals on
Animal Farm. Snowball was also one of leaders of
revolution, but sadly he was chased away into
exile by Napoleon's dog force. All this relates to
the Russian Revolution because Snowball
represents Leon Trotsky, a leader of the "October
Revolution". Trotsky was a pure communist and
followed Marx. In this case, Snowball was a
communist as well, and followed Old Majors
theory of revolution. Trotsky, much like Snowball,
wanted to improve life for all in Russia, but sadly
he was chased away by Lenin's KGB. This is
exactly how Snowball was treated. He was chased
away from Napoleons dogs.

Any attempt to disobey Napoleon is met with

violent retaliation; some animals, in an act of
mass hallucination, even admit that they are
responsible for working with the phantom
Snowball and are promptly slaughtered by
Napoleons fierce dogs

Napoleon was greedy for power. He craved being

the ruler and making all the decisions. Although,
he not a good speaker and not as clever like
Snowball. This is why Squealer was around. He
uses Squealer, who is great with words, to handle
all the announcements and persuading. Napoleon
was cruel, brutal, selfish, devious, and very
corrupt. He has a great ambition for power, and
harmed anyone who opposed him. He used dogs
as an act of intimidation and Moses to refer to
God. Much like Josef Stalin, Stalin was not a good
speaker either. He was also not educated like
Trotsky (Snowball), and did not follow Marx's
(Old Majors) ideas. Stalin only cared for power

and killed all that opposed him. He also used
KGB, also known as his own police force to
handle and manage many things. Stalin allowed
church like Napoleon.
