brought. All inventions brought
about a new specialty during this
day and age of war. Revolutionary advancements are being
made citizens! Lest we never forget these progressions and encroachments that have become
of the worlds weaponry.

Of Modern
Warfare

U-Boats
Germany officially released the U-Boat in 1917,
though created in 1915, as a weapon against any and
all types of sea transportation devices. As a result,
unrestricted torpedo submarine warfare broke out,
later requiring war etiquette. (Uboats.net)

Automatic Machine
Gun
Poison Gas
Debuting on April 22nd, 1915, this British invention
was used as a defense against trench war tactics.
While many believe that the Germans were the first
to initiated by The Germans, the first country to actually believe in using gas as a weapon was France. The
effects of Poison Gas sent victims into a choking

Convoys
The convoy system originated in Britain, and it is
when a group of merchant vessels sail together. Convoys were used as a means of protection for valuable
ships while sailing in war torn water. However, many
found trans-Atlantic protection impossible to protect
while short channel voyages were essential.

Zeppelins
The Zeppelin was created by the German, and
their main purpose was to succeed in aerial attacks. One objective was for the British to succeed
in strategic bombings. It was used by Germany
and the Allies. (wired.com)

After debuting in active battle in August 1914 with


the Swedish, the Automatic Machine Gun required
a crew of six to operate. It originally shot anywhere
from 400-600 caliber rounds per minute, a number
that double by the end of the war.

Airplane
Developed by the Wright Brothers in Ohio during
the Industrial Revolution, the airplane was originally
used by countries as a means of reconnaissance.
However; in 1915, German engineer, Tony Fekker,
began to install guns into the planes. From then on,
airplanes became a staple for the war, being used in
active air battle, bombing, and so on for the rest of
