Air Pollution and How it Affect Animals.

By: Trent A.C.

What is Air Pollution and how Does it

Work?

What are the Effects of Air Pollution and Where

Does Air Pollution Come From?
Long term pollution:

Long term pollution :Lung cancer, Chronic Respiratory

Diseases.Etc
Factories: They make air pollution and then it kills animals.
Cars (transportation): Fumes come out of the car and causes
more air pollution for animals.
Acid Rain: Makes fish feel bad and when something eats it it
will kill the animals that ate it.

Cars:

Chemical use of farming: Animals eat the plants and then

they will get sick and they use tractors and planes to spray it
on and those lead to air pollution.
Burning of fossil fuel: Releases lots of air pollution.

How Air Pollution Changed Over

Time and How it Affects Animals

Industrial Revolution
Industrial Revolution was when the
air pollution first
started in the late 1700s.

How Did the Industrial Revolution Affect Animals

The industrial revolution
affect animals 100 years
later. It affected them by
spreading fumes and deadly gases into air what cause air pollution that kills away
the plant and animal.

What Gases Come out of Factories and Why do They Hurt

Animals?
Gases fumes and smoke come out of
factories. That gases are really bad for the
environment and animals. All those fumes
gases and smoke causes acid rain which
causes the fish to die in the lake and
animals that eat them will get sick to and
die as well. This would cause the food chain to fall.

How Much Pollution was Made When Cars Were Invented?

In the 1700s there were horses and
buggys. In 1885 the first car was
invented. Soon cars were everywhere
and caused lots of air pollution.

The Beginning of My Timeline

In 1700s the Industrial Revolution started that is when air pollution started. It
started because it was a easier way to make basic needs instead of doing it hand
to hand.
some basic needs they made
were:

How Humans Got Coal

humans needed coal to make these basic needs. But there was carbon monoxide
that could kill them so they got canaries. They use canary to see if it was safe. If it
wasn't safe the canary would die but if it was safe the canary would survive.

Beginning of Cars
The beginning of cars led to more pollution than ever. The beginning of car started
in the 1885. It was called the Benz Motorwagen.

How Air Pollution Affects Plants

How Does Air Pollution Affect Plants

Cause
Cars are one of the main pollutants that humans
produce.

Effect
In Beijing, China, this picture shows what is
happening.

Air Pollution Timeline...

13th Century:
King Edward banned the
burning of sea coal in london.

18 and 19th Century:

The industrial revolution used
a large amount of coal, and
made air and water pollution.

Year 1936:
Milwaukee was the first American city to ban smoking on all
public transportation.

Year 1948:
In Donora, Pennsylvania, 7000
people became ill and 20 died
because the local
manufacturing plants producing
air pollution.

Year 1948:
The U.S. government made a law to control the amount of
water pollution.

1948 U.S. president,

Harry S. Truman.

Year 1952:
In London, at least 4000 people died because of factories
making pollution.

What Is Clean Air?

What is the Cause of Air Pollution and What is the Effect?

Cause

Effect

The causes are factories, cars, and

smoke.

The effect is smoggy skies, horrible

views and lung disease.

This is a Factory polluting air.

This is a before and after picture. The

smoggy one is when air pollution is high.

This is a car causing polluting.

The effect is not good because you do not

get to go outside or enjoy the outdoors.

Air pollution effects people by damaging

their lungs. Smoke also causes bad lungs
and air pollution.

Before the Industrial Revolution

Before the industrial revolution in the 1800s and
1900s there were only carriages and no factories to
make toothbrushes or other manmade items. There
was no serious threat to the environment.
This was the start of air pollution.

The Industrial Revolution

What is the Industrial Revolution?
The Industrial Revolution started in the 1800s. This is when factories and other machines were invented.
The Industrial Revolution took place in Europe and America. This also developed the steam engine, iron,
and textile industries.

What Does This Have to do With Air Pollution?

The Industrial Revolution has to do with air pollution because it contributed to air pollution. This was
caused by factories and car engines releasing Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Sulphur Dioxide and
Nitrogen Oxide. These chemicals release toxic chemicals.

Present Time
Today we have many threats that causes
air pollution. These threats include:

Gas cars
Diesel trucks
Factories
Smoking
Fire - fireplaces - smoke
And other items that release some
sort of toxins.

This is not good for us.

Air Quality in Beijing in the1900s

The air quality in Beijing in the
1900s was better than today
because of the economic growth.

Aulani Interview

Aulani Questions
Q1- How is your hotel helping the environment? Are you using windmills, solar
panels, or other?
Q2- Why do you want to help?
-Why do you?
-Why do you not?
Q3- How many visitors do you have each year?
-How many times do you have to use the dishwasher and laundry machine?
-How much water do you use?

Aulani Answers
A1- Two solar panels on the roof of building A.
A2- We are helping because we want to keep our environment clean and have
green everywhere,
A3- We do not keep track but I can check on the computer. (Never showed up
after.)
