Modeling of the Concept

I will read I am Rosa Parks and after I am done reading
this book we will talk about Rosa Parks character traits
and why she made a good role model.
Guiding the Practice
Once we are finished with our discussion, we will
transition back to our desks and the students will
complete a Venn diagram. The students will compare
their role model to Rosa Parks and why she was a role
model. The idea is to show the students that a role
model can be anyone that possess good character traits
and who is willing to do good for themselves and others.
Hopefully they will be able to see the connection

between the role models. I will walk around and promote

the students during this class discussion, and I can right
some ideas on the board.
Providing the Independent Practice
Once the students complete this assignment, the
students will then work on their social studies journal.
Each day I will write the big idea statement and the
essential questions on the board. Each day we work on
social studies the students will write in their journal the
essential questions, when completing their in class
activity and finish they will answer the questions in their
journal.
Transition
When finished with both of these assignments the
students will be able to read their book of their choosing
or work on another assignment they may have for
homework.
