First Selectman has reduced the BOE
adopted budget by another 560K.
The total reduction to education as it now
stands is 2.28M. Goals for the Process
Do not jeopardize the quality/integrity of the core
program of instruction. Serve all students in preK-12, no matter what educational needs. Strive for an interconnectedness of academic core and extended core. Recognize and respect there are critical periods of time for study. Do not cut without understanding the long-term impact. Outcome of 2.28M Reduction

Selective leaves of absences for teachers in areas
most impacted by reduction in force
Exploration of early retirement incentives for
bargaining units participating in the Monroe Public Schools Retirement Fund [custodians, nurses, librarians, secretaries and unaffiliated]
Re-open a third window of opportunity for teachers
to retire by July 1, 2010 and receive retirement benefits of off-year Monroe Public Schools
