Executive summary
Overview
USD20.6bn of deals tracked in Q1 2016, a 12.5% increase from USD18.3bn in Q1 2015.
1,013 deals tracked from public sources in Q1 2016, an increase from 881 in Q1 2015.
The average deal value for investments has decreased to USD20.0m in Q1 2016, from USD23.9m in Q1 2015.
The average deal value for acquisitions has increased to USD229.9m in Q1 2016, from USD133.2m in Q1 2015.

Deals by region:
North America leads all regions with an average deal value of USD33.0m. Asia/Pacific comes second at USD29.8m.
Average deal values have increased in regions of North America and South America. However, the average deal values
in Europe, Asia/Pacific, Middle East, and Rest of World have decreased significantly.
Asia/Pacific leads the world in average deal values for investments at USD30.6m.

Deals by sector:

The number of deals have increased in all sectors except in Mobile & Apps and Hardware & Infrastructure, where the
number of deals decreased 10.8% and 12.5% respectively.
The total deal values have increased in Games (2040.5%), Software & Services (53.2%) and Mobile & Apps (18.6%).
Conversely, the total deal values decreased in all other sectors.
The average deal values for acquisitions have increased significantly in Mobile & Apps (2947.6%), Ecommerce
(1082.4%), Marketing (240.7%) and Software & Services (56.1%). Conversely, there was a decrease in Transactions
(75.7%).
