THINK PLAN: Learning Experience Plan

As an emerging physical educator this lesson plan process also known as the think plan requires the
teacher to think through every part of the lesson and DIALOGUE the teaching episode as if you were
speaking to the students. The dialogue format provides you with the opportunity to practice and rehearse
the delivery. Reminders and notes to the teacher should be written in italics/bold print .

Attention Getter/hook me
into the lesson:
Lets start on one of our three
essential keys to success
that you came up with as a
community the last time I saw
you. As you all know a virus
spreads quickly as it
continues to take over the
healthy cells. These two
students will start off as being
the virus that barely enters
the body. Everybody else is a
healthy cell. They will link
arms and try to tag the
healthy cells using two
fingers on the shoulder.
When healthy cells are
tagged, they will now be part
of the pathogen taking over
and link arms with the group
without breaking. What
essential key will help you be
successful, for either healthy
cells or virus? *Teamwork*
Start and Stop Signal:
When I say freeze- all eyes
on me.
When I say jump- continue
the exercise given.
Home Positions:
When stop signal is, you will place
any equipment on the floor. If it is
something that may roll, place it

purpose) WHAT ARE WE

DOING TODAY, WHAT DO
YOU EXPECT FROM THE
STUDENTS, WHY ARE WE
DOING THIS
What are the three essential
keys to success in risk taking
that we came up with as a
community? *Teamwork,
Work hard, and
Communication* How can we
apply that to team jump
rope? Think back of what you
did on Friday with coach
Alex. Today we will continue
the team jump rope but I am
going to ask to increase the
risk taking.

Transition 2:
Students will be
gathered and briefly
review the three
essential keys to
team success.
.

AD: How can I

use the essential
keys of team
success to
accomplish my
goal?

FITNESS ACTIVITY: WHAT,

WHY, HOW?
10 mins

Psychomotor:
First thing, we need to get our
blood going and increase our
cardiovascular efficiency by doing
some fitness. There are single
jump ropes in each hula hoop. One
partner will remain stationary while
jumping rope, while the other
performs the task given going down
and back. Then, you switch roles.
Cognitive:
Remember that you and your
partner have to perform all the
exercises. Be sure to perform them
correctly and at a moderate pace to
not have your partner jumping the
whole time.
Affective:

CD: think of what

jumps are best to
conserve your
energy. Will it
help me if I am
jumping high?
Jumping low?

Transition 3:
Students will be
partnered by giving
one person near
them a high five.
Each set of partners
will go to their hula
hoop.

Go in through the
front door of the
jump rope and
exit through the
back door.

You and your partner are in it

together. Remember you are
dependent on each other to
complete the tasks as a team.

LESSON FOCUS/SKILL
BUILDING ACTIVITY;
10 mins

Psychomotor:
Like how you performed team jump
rope with Coach Alex, we will
continue doing everything we
learned but challenge ourselves a
little bit more. We are going to use
the manipulatives except now it is
going to be more team based. Two
students will be in the jump rope
using an object of their choice. You
will be tossing it to your partner
back and forth while jumping rope.
Stay in sync.
Cognitive:
Establish your rhythm with your
partner and determine how fast/
slow you must jump while tossing
each other the object.

Transition 4:
Students will place
their single jump
rope and exchange it
for a team jump
rope.

Affective:
The three essential keys will be a
he part in the success of this
activity. Can you make a real world
connection using the three
essential keys for success in risk
taking?

APPLICATION ACTIVITY:

Transition 5:
The students will be
grouped into 6-8
students and will be
demonstrated the
double-team jump
rope.

Psychomotor:
Our final challenge is going to be a
double-team jump rope. We will
have two pairs of turners in sync
with each other turning the rope.
Two students, challenge by choice,
will enter the jump rope one at a
time. Once we establish a good
rhythm of jumping, we can add two

jumpers in
through the front
door.

Cognitive:
This may be challenging to
accomplish because everybody
must work together. Think
strategically in approaching the
ropes, when the next person should
go and how many people should be
in the center.
Affective:
Once again, this requires all three
of the essential keys you all gave
me. The purpose of the turners is to
work with the jumpers, your
community, and not try to set them
up for failure.

Debrief/Closing/Cool
Down:
Psychomotor:
I see a lot of us breathing heavily
and sweating when we get out of
the jumping zone so that tells me
we had a great workout!

Final Transition:
Stop signal will be
given and all
students will place
equipment back to
the designated hoop.

What cues did we

keep in mind while
jumping and why?

Cognitive:
What were some of the approaches
you and your team made to
succeed in these activities? What
were some of the hiccups we had?
How did rhythm help out in our
jumping skills?
Affective:
Now, the three essential keys you
all gave me can be used in the real
world. How is communication
important when you are in teams?
Think of your teams here at school
weather its in sports, band,
orchestra, choir, etc. How does
teamwork play a part in it? What
happens if you do not work hard?
Insight/Preview:
Great job today in team jump rope
and applying the values of team
success to all the activities we did
today. I need everybody to help me

pick up all the equipment and put it

in the front by the stage please.
