Multi-Modal Project
For this project, I created a tagxedo. My tagxedo is a compilation of about ten
words that relate to my topic of social norms, the most. Every word is supposed to
represent either ethos logos and pathos. I put these words into the shape of a
handprint, because I feel it represents social norms as well as it represents society.
The deeper meaning behind the hand, is to show how humans have left their mark
on society. The hand shows how we have a hand in everything in society good or
bad. The handprint also show how we are all the same in our own way, but how we
are also all different in our own way. Lastly, I feel the hand shows a meaning as us
trying to stop society from collapsing. I think this is the most important
interpretation behind the handprint, because it shows that we are trying to stop the
bad things in society, which relates back to social norms, because society does not
like change. Between all my words, they are supposed to briefly hit and represent
the topic of ethos, logos, and pathos.
For pathos, I tried to choose words that show emotion, or have meaning, but
that also show a good representation of social norms. The words that I chose that
represent pathos are: humans, morals, weird, and normal. Now you may ask how a
word as simple as human, or normal is using pathos, but I will tell you. When I used
the words above, I used them in a sense that is showing how social norms has an
impact on these words. People are now labeled as normal, or weird, when in
reality we are all people and we are all equal and social norms should not change
that, nor should I put a negative effect on anyone.
For logos, I tried to choose words that were more realistic and words that
were logical to representing social norms. Culture, society, and social norms are the

three words I used to represent the logos area of this project. I used this to
represent the logos area, because I feel this are the most logical and common words
to symbolize societal norms. These words show the meaning of what it is that has
effects on social norms as well as what social norms effect.
Lastly, I used ethos in this project to represent the ethic views and
perspectives of my project. The words I used to represent this section, were roles,
rules and morals. I used these words are to show explain that morals and rules are
considered a form of ethics, or an ethical code, usually found in society. In society
most people follow ethics and morals which give people reason in what they do.
Although, not everyone has the same morals, and sometimes they are completely
opposite. In conclusion, the words represent the ethics and codes in society.
My text is supposed to make the reader think about my meme and ask, is
society really like this? The purpose of my text, is to be short and to the point, but
to also show people that society is very shallow and materialistic, caring about
unimportant things. Also, my text shows an ironic side when I use the rhetorical
device, pathos. My text is not supposed to think too much about it, to understand it,
but it also has a deeper meaning.
