Group Assignment One (TRANSCEND)
Transcend will put into effect a transformational leadership system. We feel it is important that individuals empower and
motivate each other towards higher levels of job satisfaction. Taking the time to do team building exercises and training our
employees to raise the levels of motivation and morality will be very important in our line of work. Behavior theory focuses on the
concept that leaders should understand what the group wants as its vision, then encourages them to see that vision through. As leaders
we will need to really get to know our employees so we can understand their passion and purpose to make sure it is put to good use.
This is a perfect fit with our transformational leadership system because once we know our employees we will be able to guide
incoming resident. They can empower them and show them how to cope with their fears and their healing. We want them to be the
best versions of themselves so they can also empower each other and work as a team towards their goal(s).
The integrated leadership and character model will be very important to our interview process here at Transcend. We want to make
sure we hire people who have great personal character, conceptual skills, technical skills, and human relations skills. Working with
domestic violence victims it is important to be trustworthy, have respect, and be responsible and as fair as possible. Volunteers also
need to be caring and have a sense of citizenship to make residents feel safe. Human relation skills will be valuable when trying to get
the residents to open up and talk about their experiences with abuse. Conceptual skills like decision making and problem solving will
be used often, and employees should have strength in these areas as well. Technical skills will not be important for everyone to have,
but for program development, marketing, budgeting, technology and managing areas in general it will be very important.

board members will have their own turn at introducing ideas and making sure that we are running smoothly at Transcend. While
waiting to take a leadership role there will be subcommittees on our board such as our health committee, financial committee and our
educational committee. Each committee is responsible for their own programs and seeing them through. The health committee will be
responsible for making sure all residents are tested and practicing safe sex. The financial committee will be responsible in working
with our grant writer and fundraisers to seek out potential donors/sponsorships and any grants that help out mission. The Educational
committee will develop classes that can help our residents in job search, healing processes, and life skills. After each board member is
cycled through a leadership position they switch between subcommittees and we can continue to bring the best services to our clients.
All the while making sure that they are developing into a whole person again and feel as normal as possible.

volunteering. Some of the volunteer positions that will be need will include: Front desk receptionist, Testers
for the HIV/STD program, Resident advisors, and lastly maintenance. Most of the upkeep of the buildings
will be done by our residents themselves such as the gardening, simple handyman issues, and basic
maintenance. As far as how we will be implementing the use of our volunteers and how the duration of
their stay is to help them get back to a place of normalcy as possible. Here is a chart explaining how we
will be doing that.
