Source 1: FBI. FBI, 29 Oct. 2014. Web. 28 Feb. 2016.
a. This source talks about how many police officers were killed in the line of duty. It then
breaks it down into subcategories. The first category is how these officers had incurred
deadly injuries during the line of duty. It is then broken down into geographical regions.
It also talks about the victims profile. Meaning the average age and how long they were
employed. It goes into details on the assailants, body armor, weapon used, time and days
of incident.
b. This website sheds a lot of light on a topic that not many people talk about. Which is why
I chose this topic to do research on. The average age of the police officer killed is 39
years old and has served on the force for 13 years. The average assailants age is 30 years
old. I can use this information to help me find which calls police respond to are the
deadliest and which people are most likely to kill police officers.
c. I know that this is a credible source because it was made and maintained by the FBI. It is
also a government website. There are no random ads or other stuff that dos not pertain to
the topic of the website. This is a very credible source.
Source 2: "Causes of Law Enforcement Deaths." National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial
Fund:. N.p., n.d. Web. 28 Feb. 2016.
a. This website shows a list of officers that have been killed from 2005-2015. It breaks up
into many categories ranging from drowning to terrorist attacks. It talks about percentage
of police officers that where killed that had on body armor. It is a giant list of all the ways
police officers have been killed.
b. This helps me see how police officers have died in the past. This can help shed light on
when police officers should call for back up and to also proceed with extreme prejudice.
In the past ten years 3 police officers have been electrocuted to death. 539 officers were
killed by being shot. Among those about 65 percent were wearing body armor but they
were still killed. This provides goo incite to when and how officers where killed in the
line of duty.
c. I know this is a credible source because it was updated on September 15, 2015. This
shows that people are keeping up with the website. The data on it isnt old and out dated.
This website is specifically set up to memorialize all the officers that have fallen in the
line of duty. It is set up to shed lite on varies things for police officers deaths in the line
of duty.
Source 3: "2016." ODMP RSS. N.p., n.d. Web. 28 Feb. 2016.

There have been a total of 30 officers who have lost there lives this year. There have also
been 11 k9 dogs that have been killed this year so far. This gives a detailed description of
how the officer was killed as well how old and how long they have been on the force for.

b. After reading these descriptions of how these officers were killed it is hard to press on.
Most of these officers where just performing routine stops that had gone bad in a hurry.
This helps me by showing me what the officer was doing at the time. It helps me see what
the attackers had used to over power/ out wit the officers that have been killed.
c. This is website specifically set up to honor those who have fallen I the line of duty. It is
updated overtime an officer is killed. It is a memorial for all these men and women. There
are no ads and all the information pertains the topic of the website.
Source 4: "FBI Releases 2014 Preliminary Statistics for Law Enforcement Officers Killed in the
Line of Duty." FBI. FBI, 11 May 2015. Web. 03 Apr. 2016.
a. This website talks about the FBIs preliminary finding of law enforcements officer
feloniously killed in the line of duty for 2014. There was an 89 percent increase in officer
that were killed from 2013 to 2014. Among the 51 officers that were killed 35 where
wearing body amour at the time. There were also 44 officers killed accidently in the line
of duty.
b. I can use this information to categorize the number of officers the were feloniously killed
verse those who were killed accidently. This is relevant because both of these categories
still involve police officers that were killed in the line of duty. This provides a different
outlook on police officers killed in the line of duty. It takes a look at not only feloniously
killed officers but also accidental deaths.
c. I know this source is creditable because it is made the by FBI. The website is an official
site of the U.S. government and the U.S. department of Justice. There are no ads on the
page. The information is all relevant and is all on the same topic.
Source 5: "Causes of Law Enforcement Deaths." National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial
Fund:. N.p., n.d. Web. 28 Feb. 2016.
a. This website is just a chart that shows the number of police officer fatalities in the last
year from the current date to a year ago. It also gives the statistics of firearm related
deaths and traffic related deaths. The number of firearm related deaths is up 129% and we
are not even half way through 2016. Traffic related fatalities are down 8% since last year.
b. I can use this information because it provides another set of data on how police officers
were killed. This is relevant to my topic because police officers do not just get killed in
one place or by the same thing. There are many things that come into play.
c. This is creditable source because it is updated everyday. This content is also seen on a
couple of my other sources. This source is just solidifying what I have found in my other
sources. This helps make my data more credible and more reliant than they previously
were.
