TITLE : THE FEMINIST APPROACH TO GENDER REPRESENTATIONS
ABSTRACT -TEJASWINI RANJAN ( 3RD SEMESTER B.A.LLB STUDENT AT CHANAKYA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY) Indian society has always been a patriarchal one. The Indian writings are perfect evidences to prove this fact. Women have always been portrayed lower to men in all aspects. Women most often, have been described confined to a particular space where is indulged in work as a homemaker or a mother. She has seldom been a strong character in conventional Indian works of literature. Gradually, when feminist approach developed in Indian writings, women gained importance, in the domestic sphere especially. Now, women were given lead roles where they have surpassed their male counterparts. Here, they have gained control socially, economically and politically, too. Hence, this research work deals with the feminist approach towards gender representation and compares the old writings with the new one.
